Problem with downloading game settings

Every time i start Black ops the sign appears for downloading game settings but it never gets there... so in this case i cant play the multiplayer anymore.
Does any of you having the same problem?

I just bought the game yesterday and am running into this issue when trying to play online. Nothing has helped me get past the "Downloading Game Settings". I can press esc but the servers will never load and the message comes back up. Are the servers down or do I need to get a refund on this?

I swear it’s bs dude I got my load out change once and that’s it got it to go again today and class still shows what I have and put 2 attachments on both guns and all on both classes but when I choose it in game the same old ones I had originally show up in my hand grrrrrr it’s aggravating

This game has been a train wreck for years now. Honestly, I'd get a refund.

I had the same problem, but then i hit the prestige and now i can change my classes, but i have to wait till that "downloading game settings" disappears

When I tried playing this game after a couple of years it wouldn't run at all, then I found I could run multiplayer only after I had loaded single player game, on't know why that is. Still get the loading game settings but can press esc to stop it. Then can play okay.

i have the same problem too, i dont know why but this bug doesnt even let you play combat training with bots, it kicks all bots and turns your loadout into nothing so you just basically do nothing but run around without a gun. honestly i recommend playing bo1 on a ps3 or something at this point. Try loading single player game then remove it and you can play multiplayer, still get the download coming up but you can press esc' to stop it. I have windowss 11 and this sorts it

regarding combat training:

press esc out of "downloading game settings" because it'll stay there perpetually if you don't (most of the time)

once you enter a match, you might find that the weapons and bots aren't present, in that case, leave the match and try the exact same thing again

sometimes it'll work on the second attempt, sometimes the third, sometimes the fourth, just keep trying and it should work eventually

it's a case of the same exact solution working after multiple failed attempts, it's just like that now

and if create a class is locked, quit out of the game and re-launch until it's unlocked again

Run "verify integrity of files" and it will download a patch, but I need to do this each time I play. Rt. click on game name, go in to installed files, select "verify". This problem started recently, not sure if it's Win 11 or Steam.
