White screen after intro.
So I've had this issue for quite a while. Basically, after the introduction, where it says Activision and Treyarch and stuff, it just goes white. It's only my cursor and a white screen. I've tried re-installing and verifying game cache. Nope, nothing works. Can someone tell me what do please? The game was working fine, I left it for a while after it happened once and now that I come back, this happens.

Thank you!

Reinstall DirectX.

Aahh I never thought of that. But hey, how do I do that without wrecking everything and then never have anything working??

Reinstalling DirectX isn't going to 'wreck everything'.

No, I meant it exageratelly. I meant it like if there was going to be future compatibility issues. Anyways, thanks for the help!

Black Ops 1 uses DX9.

Ensure that you have the latest GPU drivers first. Secondly verify your game cache. If the problem still exists, you may also need to manually run secondary installers required by this game.
Exit Steam entirely.

Browse to your Call of Duty: Black Ops installation folder (Usually C:\Program files\Steam\Steamapps\common\call of duty blackops\)

Run the following installers:

•...\Steamapps\Common\call of duty black ops\redist\directx\dxsetup.exe
•...\Steamapps\Common\call of duty black ops\vcredist_x86.exe

Reboot your computer and test any issues again.

Run the game in optimal settings.

I'm sorry but I don't think you understood the topic. The game won't run. Only the intro plays and then there's simply a white screen and my cursor. There's no way I could change the settings because the game won't even play.

I 've just made research about your problem and I think I have found some answers. Possible solutions to fix the problem: A) Temporarily disable your antivirus. B) Set a parameter for the game on your "Graphics" Control panel (You must probably have ATI Catalyst). C) Overclock a bit the CPU (If you do that just watch your temps and beware...) D) Open your Single Player config, what is "r_rendererPreference" set to? If it is "default", try changing it to "dx7", save the cfg and try opening the game. Then try "Shader Model 2.0", save the cfg and try again. Then try "Shader Model 3.0" and try again. E) Reinstall the game. I hope I helped you. Good luck!
