Call of Duty: Black Ops

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Statistiche:
High CPU usage/ fps drop problem
Hey guys,

I have a very specific problem, I guess, because I can't seem to find a solution via Google.
The game starts to drop in frames about 10 min into the game.
It doesn't matter if it's Singleplayer or Zombies.
TO describe the framedrop is kind of difficult too.
I can play with constant 70 FPS and after a few minutes( between 3-5 min.)
the framerate drops to 20-30 FPS. After another 3 minutes they go back to 70. This repeats infinitely. In this time the CPU usage goes up to 90-100% which makes me worry about my hardware.
My specs:
OS: Win8.1
Core i7 3630 series
8GB Ram
GT635M
All relevant drivers are up to date.
Lowering and Uping the graphics has no effect the drops still appear.

I appreciate every help.

Thanks

As i previously said it seems you are on an onboard graphics chip , GT635M is a noterbook graphics chip. I think you will continue to have problems u need to install a graphic card to fix this problem
No. This is not te fault of my graphics card.
I know that this is a Notebookchip, but it's the Main processor chip besides my Intel HD 4000.
And playing any other game released after Blops1 on even higher settings is no problem at all.
That's why I'm wondering.
Unless your drivers for the GFX chip are out of date then i have no more ideas sry :( But any game will struggle and create FPS drops on an onboard GFX chip , also have u confirmed that you are using windows 8 have you checked this game is fully compatible with that operating system.?

I sent a request freind if u need to discuss any possible fixes to this problem
Thanks.
Since I don't have any problems with other games I'm sure it will be an error on the games side.
I'm certain that an i7 is capable of handling a game from 2010...
I don't know
1. Verify the Game-Cache, if this doesn't work

2. Deinstall your Video Drivers completely, reboot and reinstall them again, if this doesn't work

3. Deinstall the Game completely (including registry), reboot and install again, if this doesn't work

4. Deinstall your Operating System (Windows) and do a fresh install, install the game, drivers and test it again.
Maybe your hardware is heating up and reducing output to compensate due to dust blockage in the vents or strands of hair/dust collecting in the fans themselves, stopping rotation. If you want to preserve the warranty, take your computer to a proffessional, or you can void the warranty by checking for yourself if you have the right tools and feel your case wont be permanently open; some cases are simply glued together.

A friend's PC was having a problem where the CPU went to 100% all the time. I reinstalled Windows for him and now it runs like new again. I hate to suggest reinstalling Windows, but sometimes it's a good idea.
I will try reinstalling the OS. I'll report back as soon as I have finished.
Do you have any antivirus like AVG? If you do disable it, those programs have a high CPU usage
So guys,
basically I made a basic reset to windows 8, which in the end solved the issue. Thanks for your attention and ideas. It was greatly appreciated :)

A broken Windows is almost always everytime the reason for problems in programs / games, so no surprise for me.
