My Attempt to get a refund...
I contacted Activison, then Steam Support via THIS ticket. Take a look. Sorry for the formatting. Anyway, think you've got a chance to get a refund or game fix? - Think again!

First off, allow me to mention that I have already contacted Activision Blizzard many times already about this, over their useless Twitter feed/forums/Telephone conversations.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3... is... Full of hackers.

There is no "if's" or "but's". They now take up 99.99% of the PC community.

I have spent money on COD:MW3 and have completely wasted my money on it. Quite possibly the WORST purchase I have made.

Their support forums and websites and completely ignored by Activision support. The PC Community HAS been let down once again.

I cannot get into any lobby without being "Teleported" or shot in the head 100 times with guaranteed cheaters. I am tired, and fed up.

So... quite simply, for wasting my time reporting players and steam doing nothing about it... I want my money back. Call Activision Support (REF Call: 02520820) and ask for my feedback if you wish.

You cannot say I paid for Single Player, because I bought 3 DLC packs (THANK GOD I DID NOT BUY THE FOURTH!). Activision even gave the cheek to say they don't guarantee online play when I called them.

It will NEVER be fixed by Activision to kick/ban players. And until they do, I want a refund. It's unfair to the consumer.

Please help. Or give Activision a MASSIVE kick up the arse. I've spent a good 3 hours trying to get some manager names at Activision. They are very secretive.

Many thanks,
James

Hi Rudy,

I'm sorry, but I am not satisfied with the response you have given me.

I am really disappointed in Activision and Steam for not sorting this for 2 years. The game is riddled with bugs and issues with have yet to have been resolved. This game is UNPLAYABLE. What part of Steam and Activision seem to not understand this?

I have followed instructions from Steam/Activision in relation to "Reporting Hackers". But they are NOT getting banned, and the total amount of hackers is impossible to play the game.

Have you not read the support forums on your own Forum and Activision's forum? - I am not the only person who is incredibly annoyed.

I want to take this support request higher up. Please forward this on to your manager. And, could you please get me a contact from Activision that I can also speak to. Someone from customer relations (But not the actual call center staff).

I have spent a lot of money on Steam games. And I am not happy with the standardized responses I am getting.

What I am hoping to achieve from this is the following;

Either a complete solution to stop hackers from ruining my game or a fix from Activision. And finally, a "Compassionate Refund" outside of Steams/Valves terms and conditions of subscribing.

I have always tried to be fair in supporting the PC Community by purchasing PC Games (Rather than other consoles). And so people like me have supported platforms such as Steam. Please be fair. PC Players are getting alienated more and more by the day, switching to other platforms because of issues like this.

Thank you.
James

Hello James,

I'm sorry you are having issues with this game.

Steam support does not have control over third party in-game issues.

We cannot refund this purchase as it has been played for over 500 hours on your account.

Below is the direct link to the third party support team:

http://support.activision.com/

They will be best suited to assist you with your request.

Hi Rudy,

Not a problem. I see your taking the dessison not to refund. That is also no problem.

I'm afraid that my ticket is not resolved, and probably never will be.
I'm holding steam and activision accountable for poor customer service, by deliberately causing issues such as this.

In this case, from now, I'll be sure not to purchase any game title from steam aswel as activision. I'll be sure to spread the word too. Companies such as valve and activision cannot get away with this. The revenue you've lost from future purchases would of been much more than the initial refund I was asking for, regardless of playing hours.

True customer service would of been you handling this case better by talking to activision on behalf of me. After all, I did purchase it from you. I'm willing to bet you've had a few of these tickets too.
I've already talked to activision via the methods you've provided already. Guess what? No solution.

You may aswel mark this as resolved. I'm expecting another standard template response anyway.

Many thanks,
James

Hello James,

Unfortunately, there is no way we can refund a game that you have played for over 500 hours.

I'm sorry you have an issue with a game on your Steam account that has been developed by another company.

Please continue to work with the third party support team to resolve your issue.

Please let us know if you encounter any further difficulty - we will be happy to assist you.

I'm still encountering further difficulty. Because nothing is being actioned by the "third party". I have held telephone conversations, and emails with Activision. There is no solution from them. And seeing as your selling this game, I'm asking for assistance from you. What can you do to help?

Could you please ask activision on my behalf, Seing as nothing is being done. You MUST have a contact with higher authority. What's your process in this situation where the 3rd party is not being helpful?

You've got a good few thousand customers in the same position. With no Help from the 3rd party, and little action from Steam.

There must be something you can do? Contact Gabe for help?

Hello James,

You will need to continue to work with the third party support team.

http://support.activision.com/

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about your in-game issues.

If you are not receiving a reply to your third party support ticket, I would suggest creating a new ticket with them.

Rudy,

I am receiving replies to my queries. But they are not solutions.
Their replies are;

"There is nothing I can do" - Much like the conversation I am having with you.

"You can report cheaters" - I am not being employed by Activision/Steam to do their dirty work. Every lobby has hackers in. I am NOT playing a game that I have to keep doing this.

"Black Ops 2 Has no cheaters" - This has got to be the best reply from them - I can't believe this was discussed on the phone.

"Refunds have to be processed though Steam" - Your not giving me one.

No one is listening to me. And I'm getting very frustrated with Activision for not fixing the issue, and steam not refunding me for the inconvenience. It's shoddy customer service at it's best - I expected this from Activision, but not from Steam.

I think I have been reasonable with my requests - Including taking this higher. You have not given me a reply in regards to taking this higher. You must have a manager right?

Thanks,
James

Hello James,

There is no way we can refund a purchase that you have played for over 500 hours.

You can continue working with Activision about the issues you are experiencing.

The purchase will not be refunded.

Unfortunately, we will be unable to assist you further with this issue.

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

Then there is nothing more to say. You can close this ticket and increase your closure rate.
Worst ticket responses ever - hopefully the next support ticket will be someone who gives a damn.

lol you're wasting your time dude. Have you even read the Steam Service Agreement? You will not get a refund. The small percentage that are lucky to get a refund are the ones who have not played the game for 500+ hours (I lol'd when I read that).

Bottom line - You made the decision to buy the game. If you don't like, you should have researched the game before buying it.

@Laptop65 - I've spent over £70 on this game. The game was fine when I first bought it. Now the game is full of hackers. Working for Activision by chance?
Laptop Mar 2, 2013 @ 2:51am
Really? I play all the CoDs, I rarely run into 'hackers' (the correct term is cheaters). I have helped them + IW out with some things in the past and present.

Are you sure you're not getting beaten by people better than you? The game works, the single player works, the online works (and, bear in mind the online service provided 100% by Activision AT THEIR DISCRETION. They don't have to give you an online service yet they do) As far as Valve's concerned, the game works. What are you complaining about?

Are you joking... Being teleported across the map and getting constant headshots (nothing else). Your telling me stuff I already know. Perhaps your in a different region and getting better quality games. So no. The game does not work - That's what I am complaining about.
Laptop Mar 2, 2013 @ 3:06am
You go on about pounds, so I'd say we're both in the same country (United Kingdom). I almost never run into hackers, and when I do I just leave and find another match rather than come on here to cry and moan over something of no importance in life.

I rarely run into 'hackers' Laptop65 are you for real . The game does work as you say . But it is full of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ wall hacker sry ( the correct term cheaters ) as you say . Either way I dont think you would know a hacker if he killed you 10 times in a row . silly

Na, I know a cheater when I see one. Also don't spam please.
Camacho Mar 2, 2013 @ 3:22am
Laptop65. You've clearly come on this discussion to troll. My points are valid about hackers (and I will continue to use this phrase because it is correct) - Activision have done nothing for the community in terms of kicking players / banning players when reported. It's not good for business to release a half arsed game.

The game is clearly working for you, so please continue to play it. My "Crying and moaning" is on behalf of the other percent of the community who are experiencing the same issues - And at an attempt for Activision to update this game.
Laptop Mar 2, 2013 @ 3:37am
If you're going to complain about a game, at least learn the facts first.

Activision published the game, they didn't make it.

IW manage the cheat detection for the game, if you're going to complain about the game then at least know your facts.

A hacker is someone who gains access to a user's system or files without their consent.

A cheater is someone who gains an unfair advantage over others in a game.

People have been moaning for years, and have accomplished nothing.
ouchmaker Mar 2, 2013 @ 3:53am
Lol you played over 500 hours of the game and ask for a refund? It's not going to happen. And it's a well-known fact that Steam does not refund games, unless you have technical problems running it when you buy it.

The cheater problem is not so bad either. Just try to avoid Team Deathmatch mode and try something else like Domination or Headquarters.

Activision are the support team. That's who you contact when you have a problem. That's who I am complaining about.

I can complain about a game without having to know everything (Like you so clearly do). You've managed to change the topic of this thread to something completely unreleated.
ouchmaker Mar 2, 2013 @ 3:57am
Also as far as I know, there are groups and clans here on steam that say to combat cheaters by creating pre-made groups and playing together. You might also try that :)
Camacho Mar 2, 2013 @ 3:57am
Like I mentioned to the support technician, I don't think playing hours really matter. The quality of the game has been severally impaired since everyone left for BO2. I have played all of the game types, and I am having no luck finding a game that's clean.

The game has been abandoned by not only the players, but the staff who supported it.

I honestly can't believe that you are supporting them over me. You kicking yourself in the arse by accepting a game that is riddled with bugs and people who ruin the game.
Camacho Mar 2, 2013 @ 3:59am
@Ouchmaker, I have seen those groups. Whilst they are practical and a good idea, should I really be expected to join a steam group in order to find a game without problems? - This should be fixed. I have no confidence in any future CoD title (Actually... any title made by IW).
Laptop Mar 2, 2013 @ 4:05am
There is actually a patch that Activision and all game developers have in their games. It basically gets rid of all forms of cheating, harassment, pretty much anything to be honest. Its been extremely successful since like, forever. I'll link you the webpage, as it's pretty awesome. It doesn't cost anything usually and I'd say its a success.

No one's forcing you to play games.
