Can't change graphic settings

Hello all,
i recently installed mw3 after many years.
I experience game freezing every time i try to make any graphic changes whatsoever.
I can't even kill it in the task manager so i restart my pc.
The default graphics are very dull and i have a really bad resolution.
Needles to say i now have a modern pc with ryzen 3600 lots of ram and an amd rx590 that exceed any minimum requirements for the game.
Any thoughts on how to make this work?

Just do it with the old config tool.
