Great game! I thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough. I wanted an adult roguelike with a non-anime art style, so this really appealed to me. Note: This is not a deckbuilder.

If you tried the demo, I'm happy to report the full game is improved:

• NPCs are fully voiced (by real actors in the credits, not AI).
  
• Full game has keyboard shortcuts (1-7 for spells, Space to end turn).
  
• The combat log updates from the bottom (more intuitive).

This is a roguelike game. You use spells to defeat opponents. As you walk deeper in the tunnel/dungeon, you encounter enemies increasing in difficulty. At the end of each dungeon there is a boss. Crucially, defeating the boss unlocks new mechanics (not new spells or items).

✅ Mechanics: It's worth noting here it doesn't help the game that a core mechanic only opens up after you complete the first dungeon: the spell synergies which trigger effects like freeze or stun when queuing different elements (eg. Fire followed by Ice). It's quite likely many reviewers have not completed the first dungeon by the time of their review (many have ~1h at time of review).

🍆 Linear Progression: collect resources during a run to upgrade gear and unlock higher spell tiers. Upgrades give massive, satisfying power ups (eg. first upgrade of Hat and Coat doubles your health and mana). Needless to say this makes subsequent runs much easier.

🍆 Little Grinding: as you get stronger runs become easier and you can go for longer. In my experience there was very little grinding required to beat the first four dungeons and upgrade gear to near max level. You acquire a good amount of resources just playing normally.

🍆 Polished UI: the game doesn't need much GPU resources, so it's very smooth. The interface is very well done, it's clearly polished through and through with all kind of small animations and nice sound effects. Worth mentioning the game does a good job of introducing mechanics, showing how everything works with tooltips. Similar to Hearthstone and other card games, the game has very clear popovers for all the buff and debuff icons, and spells. There is also a full combat log which helps you understand how the spell synergies and effects trigger and when you deal critical hits.

🍆 Endgame: after you beat the first four dungeons there is an extra "endless mode" dungeon, which has one more extra unique boss. This dungeon has a ranking comparing how far you got with other players, and remembers your personal record, pretty cool. You will spend some time in this dungeon if you want to complete achievements (you can spend accumulated resources to unlock pictures in the collection).

🍆 Sex scenes: works for me as I don't like anime in general. That said it's not the main attraction of the game, most scenes are pretty ridiculous involving the goblins and huge ducks ^_^. You will otherwise have unlocked all other sex scenes during normal playthrough. The sound effects are nice. The game could have used more sex scenes (which are original artwork as far I can tell).

🍆 Active developer: last but not least the developer is active in the forums. Reading the posts I found quite a few features are improvements he made following user feedback.



+ animation in general is quite nice, it's a kind of 2d "puppet" style of animation and it's really well done
+ spell effects are very well done, gameplay feels responsive and addictive
+ your character yells something every time she attacks, and there are a LOT Of different lines ("Burn!" "Power of Magic!" "High Voltage!" etc) it made me smile many times
+ enemies do all kind of grunts when they are hit, and they curse when they are hit bad, which is quite funny, they sound like they are really pissed off
+ your character also curses sometimes ("F*CKING COCKROACH!")


* there are too many spells, only about 20% of them are useful (so a flaw in the game design)
* you can "lock" spells, presumably to reduce the pool of random spell rewards? you can lock only a very small amount of the spell pool so this seemed of no use
* besides synergies there is not much depth tbh, mostly you want some damage + synergies, and some utility (like remove a negative effect, and healing), and there is a little strategy in optimizing your run but not much
* endgame requires stacking up to 20 buffs which give massive boosts and advantages like "First attack does triple damage", your spell bar is optimized in the first 30 mins of a run and never changes afterwards


The top voted "helpful" review complains about AI usage. Ai is most noticed in the special events artwork: random encounters in the dungeon where you have to make a choice. These are pretty generic and not in the same style as the enemy encounters or the sex scenes. It is not a major issue in my experience because the core gameplay (enemy encounters, bosses) and sex scenes are in a unique style. It does however mean all the erotic scenes depicted in the "collection" from those special events are relatively boring. Basically, the collection of special event pictures is not the main draw of the game.

Another reviewer complains that the game is "designed to make you fail" and that it takes "failure after failure" to increase your numbers. This is incorrect: you can gather resources to upgrade gear quite fast in a normal playthrough as you learn the game. Once you upgrade gear and spells everything becomes easier. Just be smart about what upgrades to prioritize.


Goblins Dungeon is a roguelike, but NOT a card game. It has a simple linear progression. A big part of the enjoyment for me was the voices of the main character, the addictive gameplay loop, funny animations and enemies grunts. It was well worth my money and I will be following this developer.

In a sea of shovelware adult games, mostly visual novels and anime/waifu games, this game stands out in my opinion as being original. If you're still undecided, or prefer card games have a look at "Last Evil". It's an adult roguelike game with deckbuilding and I thoroughly enjoyed it as well.

Pro Tip : you can drag spells to change their order so you can cast them in order 1,2,3 ... this isn't explained anywhere in game. You can do that on the Spell reward screen at end of battle.
