Can't install from disc, Installation freezes at 0mb
Hi everyone. I am trying to install MW3 with the cd, but when I do try to install it from the cd it stays stuck at 0 mb. This isn't the problem where it downloads from steam instead of the disc, i fixed that already. PLEASE help!! I've so far said every swear word starting with every letter!!

DVDs will fail after this long.

Download Singleplayer, then Multiplayer. Throw the DVDs away.

Downloading isn't an option as I have a VERY slow internet connection. It might take up to 1 week to download just one of the two.

And that is what I do, it says "installing from disk" cause I run it just like that. Would it work if I download a few mb and then continue with dvd's?

If your game will not load from the CD, and you said that it don't go pass 0-MB,then you should check to make sure that U are running windows 7 or Vista software, and or if U have enough space on your hard drive for 14-28GB.

I meet all the requirements. If I download say a 100mb before installing, and then insert the disc, it installs fine from the disc. But the files don't show in steam it still says I only downloaded 100mb. I get a message like "Steam something.dll is missing from your computer." when I try to run the iwmp.exe file. Soooo what to do....

I have the same problem, but i also noticed that the "0%" which you are talking about does not exist. It doesn't show a number but it does show most of the "installation status" blocks directly at start of the installation. And then it just hangs forever at that point. But when you press ctrl+alt+delete in Windows and check you hard drive usage you will see that it is writing at almost maximum speed. And it will be doing this for the 25 or more minutes which your PC needs to install the game. Then at some point the hard drive write speed drops and then you give it some extra minutes. After that you just try to launch the game with the shortcut which is placed on the desktop before it starts installing the game files. The game will run even though the steam installer is still hanging in the same way as it started more than 25 minutes ago. If it starts correctly and you can play it, you still have to trick the installer. You do this by opening your ctrl+alt+delete and killing the steam main process. In that way all sub processes including the running installation wizard will get killed. If you then start Steam again you will find a working game which is fully installed from disk.

it does not earn an award for beauty; but hey, it works!
