updating Executible Glitch, how to fix?
I've tried everything I could possibly think of to try to get the game to run and it keeps saying updating Executible and then not run the game, does anyone know how to fix this?

Yes. What seems to work is to keep trying to launch; that is, when it fails, try to launch again, over and over, until it launches. From then on it will launch like it should.

For some reason, It seems that the "update executable" thing fails and needs several tries.

I'm not sure anyone knows for sure. It may have happened with the latest Windows update. Win10 and Win11 both have the issue.

As far as we can tell, the main problem seems to be that the executable needs to update and it takes a few tries (sometimes a lot of tries) for it to happen.

has steam said anything about fixing this? the games are on sale so they are still at least in touch somewhat

Try to open the game from the desktop shortcut, start menu shortcut, or directly from the game exe file, and it should work afterwards.

I doubt that Steam can do much to fix this, except to hopefully include the updated executable in future downloads. It has affected MW2, MW3, BO2, and BO3. It also appears to have happened to games other than CoD titles.

I have always used the start menu shortcuts and it still required many tries to get it work on each of the six times I encountered it.

There is talk that it might be related to a hacker intrusion. I don't know. I have (so far) not had any indication that my system has been invaded by a virus or malware. Besides Windows Defender, I did a comprehensive scan by Malware Bytes on all drives.

Btw mashing did work (recently the game started acting up and I have no idea why), but I was double clicking iw5sp.exe in the folder, and not the Steam play button like I had thought.

It's most definitely related to Steam. I've had it too and I am on Win10 1903 and a driver from like 2 years ago. Something on Steam's end is causing this for some games to happen, because I am not running any AV either, as in zero.

Same happened to me, even though I just played the game a few days ago, but suddenly it just refused to launch. My online gaming friend had the same, so I've decided to research it and saw that a whole bunch of us experienced the same, THEN, luckily, I've read that someone suggested to just keep trying to START, and eventually that will fix the problem, and it DID! So yeah, thanks to the guy posting the solution, I'm gonna spread the good news to my visitors as well, before they go crazy! LOL! :D
