Myself, I re-installed the entire Operating System, and still no use! MW3, just as you describe it, would just freeze up after 20-40 sec and that's that!
Frustrating and irritating! :(
PS: I have Ethernet cables home, so I'm gonna try that out, but I don't think that would make much of a difference, and as far as the Router goes, I have NO access to it's control features because I'm TWC (Time Warner Cable) subscriber and they don't allow access to make changes. However, everything else works just fine, so I'm pretty sure it's not the router to blame, but the game. :(
Did you had the chance to check the cable conection?
I also see that your using a laptop, correct? Who is the manufacturer of it? Is it MSI by any chance?
And yes, I have multiple MSI Gaming Laptops. This one is an MSI GT70.
One more thing: I've just re-installed the full OS on my second PC, an MSI GT70 Dragon Edition 2, and the game plays FINE! :( :( :(
So, I REALLY don't get it! Everything is fine on the Dragon2, but not on the GT70, and MW3 is the one and ONLY game that causes this problem on the GT70! :(
This is crazy, makes no sense at all! :(
Indeed - this seems like an very odd problem, offline for me is the same but like you pointed out no MP for us then :(
I believe that we need to verify what hardware/software/setting component on our machines are responisble for communication between the MW3 and the internet but I'm not to technical myself so propably it will be impossible for me to find a fix - hope that someone can see this post and give us some ideas what to check.
I've also tested it with a different ISP, as a final "theory" to see if the game was somehow blocked by my internet service provider, but that made no difference either!
I've asked if it was possible that my PC particularly was blocked in any ways, but was told that it was not blocked at all, so NOBODY could find the solution.
Ports open, permissions are granted, system fine, all other games work, except this stupid MW3, which is my favorite game! :(
Luckily it works on my Dragon-2, but still, annoys and irritates the living heck out of me that I don't find the solution to this problem.
