Resetting Found Enemy Intelligence Items
Is there any way to reset the number of found enemy intelligence items found? I would like to allow my nephew to play the game on my computer while he visits for the summer and let him try to find the intel items that I've already found.

You'll have to delete your singleplayer progress.

Thanks, and where would I find my single player progress in order to delete it?

It's in your players folder.

Sorry... I guess I'm thick but I can't find my players folder. I'm using the Steam version of MW3 on an iMac running OS 10.9.3 The only folders I can find are in the Steam folder in my Library/Application Support. I deleted the Userdata folder but that didn't seem to do much - everything is pretty much the same.

I'm trying to reset the progress back to zero.

Oh, Mac? It's going to be in your MW2 folder.

All game achievemenets, unlocks, etc (how many and which pieces of intel have been found among other things) are tied up to your Steam account and are stored on the server, not localy. Even if you remove all game saves and start a new game it will show "ENEMY INTELLIGENCE: X/Y Intel Items Found" for the mission. So I really see no way for this to work using your Steam account.

Intel progress is stored locally.

OK, so I did a bit of a 'research' on this and installed Steam and the game on a separate PC with nothing but Windows on it. Yes, number of found intel pieces went down to 0 so this info IS stored localy somewhere. It is not in the gamesave files found inside call of duty modern warfare 3\players2\save folder; that is where single-player campaign progress is saved. After deleting those files and starting the game you can only start new game from the begining. But since I found the first piece of intel in a previous run it will show "1 of 5 ...". This means number of intel pieces found is NOT stored in the gamesave files. With just one game installed it was much easier to monitor which files get changed and find the right ones. Number of intel pieces found and your last save locaction are stored inside settings_s.zip.iw5 and possibly settings_c.zip.iw5 file. Deleting these two will reset your game as if it was never played before regardles of gamesave files found in the save folder.

If you want to save your game progress, copy to a safe location or to a USB media complete players2 folder. To reset everything to 0, close Steam if its running and delete all files found in players2 folder and its subfolders but do not delete the folders. I would leave config.cfg file so you don't have to go through setting up game options again. Start Steam and run the game, and you will start from the scratch with 0 intel pieces. Once your nephew is done playing, you can restore your gamefiles from the backup.

This has been tested and works on a Windows-based PC but should work on Mac as well.

Thank you so much, SirFoggy!

It appears that if I delete (move) the file settings_c.zip.lw5, which is located in my library/application support/call of duty modern warfare 3/players2/ folder on my iMac (we Mac users use forward slash) then all progress and gains are lost and that's exactly what I was looking for.
