Yeah, it says PURCHASE instead of PLAY.

It says purchase most likely because whoever shared it is currently online and steam doesn't allow you to use games that people have family shared with you while they are online. When they go offline it will probably say play instead of purchase but im not sure.

I think you can't do these things with any of the Call of Duty.
I used to play PS4 where you can do SharePlay, (that's something where your friend is able to watch or interact with your game) and I wasn't able to let my friend play CoD: AW

wow you guys have much knowledge about family sharing. you can not play his games WHILE HE PLAYS. Make sure that he is not playing and then you can play modern warfare 3
