Really low fps in singleplayer

I get extreme frame drops in the singleplayer down to 35 fps. And that's only the singleplayer. Just replayed the mw2 campaign and had no issues at all. Running the same settings in this game however and it's unplayable. Tried a bunch of different settings as well as the same once I got for the multiplayer part (which runs just fine) but nothing works. And if I don't run the game on the native screen quality it looks very low res.

upgrade your video card. just tested it myself and get a constant 60 maxed out at 4k no problems. there are many games on steam with optimization issues but this isnt one of them, from what ive seen at least

Well i know your post is already old but how is your GPU + CPU? Why you dont tell us your PC Specs since topic you make?, also already try update the drivers of your GPU and vice versa ? i note older games like cod mw3 have little bad optimization problem and some bugs, i feel the compancy who make their games dont even update those games after many years, i believe they should be updated or they make remastered but who still not happen for cod mw3, if im sure only cod4 has remastered verison at which should all older cod games have remastered verison update for modern year that we live,they should improve those games anytime.

i dont think it need a powerful GPU to play uncless if you want in 4K sure though cod mw3 game is already older, he dont even tell us his PC Specs on which should be told because it's like extra information though.

Back when I made this post I had a gtx 970 and a older i7. But the thing is the pc I had years before that one could run MW3 maxed out flawlessly. I thought maybe the game didn't like a more modern OS since Cod warzone ran better than a decade old game.

The original Modern Warfare and MW2 get 60fps using Proton Experimental on Manjaro (i5, RTX 2070 Super), but I struggle to get 30 on MW3. Annoying to say the least

Same problem here. Something is definitely not right. I tried various settings and always got 30 FPS. Even low graphics on 720p, still 30 FPS.

Might be a good idea to post your rig info, when referring to performance issues.
Never had any FPS issues with this game, only some insane multiplayer latency, since no one is region locked.

It isn't rig related. Since their comment is about Proton, I wanted to share my experience as well.
