1. Go to the computer settings.
2. Click Update and Security.
3. Click Check For Updates.
4. As the computer checks for updates, type Device Manager on the computer's search bar.
5. In Device Manager find an icon called Display Adapters, and click the arrow next to it.
6. Doing so will reveal your display adapter, right click on it and have it updated.
7. After updates are done both in Settings and in the display adapter, rest your computer.
8. Launch the game and have fun!
- Run the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP, and as administrator.
- Uninstall any PhysX drivers, reboot, then find the latest ones.
- Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common and copy all files within that folder. Then paste them into Binaries in the game's installation folder.
A little skeptical about this one but it never hurts.
Hope one of these works.
Just make sure the directx files and vcredits, in steam commonredist folder, are installed, because steam should install those the first time you launch the game.
Try to get this too PhysX-9.13.0604-SystemSoftware-Legacy, you might find it in steam commonredist folder too, or get it from nvidia homepage.
Helps a lot with older games that rely on phsyx.
CodecTweakTool - Win7DSFilterTweaker - Media Foundation and MS Codec Tweaks both reset and reapplied, as that will fix any issues with codecs being unavailable for games to use, otherwise can cause loading issues or no videos in games.
The codec stuff shouldn't matter with a fresh windows upgrade or reset. The rest though are essential. Also make sure your windows can't get your hands on your motherboards gpu, if you have any, aka disable it in bios, that can be a cause.
This worked for me in Win 10, after the other methods DIDN'T.
Thanx very much! It is a good game - when you can manage to start it!
If that doesn't work, make separate partition where to install a separate windows and dual boot, and check if that makes it work. Or just a fresh OS install on a separate HDD/SSD, to see if your OS is borked, while your main SSD/HDD is not plugged in or turned off in bios.
If it didn't help, well guess it's a hardware issue.
If it helped, well you have a choice now, figure out how to repair your main OS or do a Reset this PC in Recovery and keep files, it will uninstall everything in main windows partition, and move the users and programdata folder to the root of the same partition, everything else remains intact. (mind to backup steam folder, if it's in the same partition as windows, because steam basically deletes everything in its folder, when uninstalling, instead of keeping the new stuff, steamlibrary, local screenshots, local save files inside of steam folder).
And Evil already mentioned the same thing on 8th July.
Also why not just copy them into the game folder next to the game exe file?
Also others don't have to do it for the game to work. Makes it seem more like people haven't installed the legacy and the new physx drivers properly. Otherwise everyone would have the same issue, because by default for nobody the physx files are in those locations.
