LAN not working well
Blur is the best racing game I have played with my friends at LAN parties, one of the reasons is the more-than-eight players support (max 20), but we always have problems with the game. Sometimes someone's kicked in the middle of a race or "A person"can't join the "B person" server, but when "C person" creates a Lobby, B and D persons can't join the game.

I have read on the Internet about problems if only 1 person is using a Firewall, but I think that's not the problem, because we always disable all of our firewalls playing in a LAN party (normally, there's no Internet).

We have tried some weird stuff like putting IP adresses in a near range (no DHCP) and kind of worked. Sometimes if someone leaves the lobby, the other ones who couldn't join the server then can join, sometimes the person who left the lobby can't join, but when that person can join again, someone's kicked randomly while in race.

Since this game is the best Mario-Kart clon in PC (at least for me and my friends), I'd like to know if someone has found a solution for these problems, 'cause I'm sure I'm no the only one with these Network problems playing in LAN.

I hope someone can help me/us.

Note: We are really using a Local Area Network (not Hamachi, or similar), we have tried with and without router.

Hi community

I too am experiencing similar problems with Blur over LAN. I host quartely LAN parties with upto 20 people and unfortunately Blur causes us some grief.

Basically one person will host a LAN game, most players connect fine but others cannot connect. Firewalls are disabled on all PCs, we find other oddoties too, for example if a player who cannot join hosts a server others can connect to them including the previous server host, but then another player cannot connect!

In the end we had to create 2 servers which got us all working ok, but ideally we would have just the one server where all plsyers can join.

Does anyone have any ideas surrounding this, I know the developers no longer exist and the last patch released was many years ago. Just wondering whether anybody has some kind of fix to this? Its a pity the game didnt support dedicated server!

After this years trying everything, I found out that you need to have the game installations in the same way:

- All the computers have a Steam Version.
- All the computers have a Non-Steam Version.
- All the computers have a copy/paste Version (It doesn't work well IMO).

There are 2 patches after the game release (if you don't have the Steam version of the game).

If you don't have these patches, I can help you uploading them to some uploading service. I hope not to violate any rule of the Steam Forums, these are official patches that are very hard to find nowadays.

Good Luck.

You could try using Tuungle, which acts as a virtual lan lobby. Just host a private game yourself and have everyone join that, launch Blur, go to LAN games and host. If there's more issues, then it has to be a firewall or other security suite causing port issues.
Any fix for this issue?

I don't think so, this game was death even before I made this post.
In my later reply (#3) I found some kind of pattern, works better, but is not the definitive solution.

Thanks for your reply

The game is kept alive by the fans.... in Discord Grps.... We still play using RADMIN freeVPN.
The problem starts with one player if he hosts no one can join, if he joins another hosted server another can join only if the player in question joins last...

Still looking for the reason why this is happening.....

I think it is a problem in the netcode, but we will never know what's going on. I found some update "exes" some time ago for the iso, but I haven't try them yet to see if it fix something about this problem.
Update:i found a way to play with friends and online. its working fine.
Looks like Blur fans have kept the game alive....

Visit https://amax-emu.com/
create a login...
download the patch and overwrite in Blur Installation folder..
launch Blur_amax.exe and login with the credential which you created.

go to online option in Blur.. there you can host join with friends etc...

I was able to resolve the issue by allowing Blur to communicate through Windows Defender FIrewall.

For anyone having trouble finding each others LAN lobby:

DEACTIVATING any other active NETWORK ADAPTER than your main LAN network adapter helped.

I found recent success with going one further than the above re: LAN network adapters, you can use a program called ForceBindIP to ensure that Blur's LAN broadcasts explicitly go through the right adapter every time.

On our LAN party today the issue was Anydesk installed two computers. After stopping the anydesk service or uninstalling it both was able to find and join lobbys.
