Single player custom game?

So I played split screen with my friend for the first time and it was awesome. We had the AI cars on because it wouldnt be as fun with just us 2. I looked around in the single player menu but I couldnt find a way to do a custom race. There is only career. Did they seriously leave this out or am I missing something?

Yes, no such option. Considering rich selection of options, such as spitsreen and LAN, I tihnk devs are good minded and exluded single player custom game intentionally, so you head out to multiplayer after completing the career. Such a shame, actually, that there's not a sigle race on my favorite track - SanFran Russian Hills, only time trial. But you can alaways launch splitscreen with bots and play by yourself.
