What happened, did your previous sprite artist die?
Because let's be real here, the new character sprites suck MAJOR ass, is this the real huniepop sequel we were promised?

The dev got a huniepop fanart and liked it so much that he decided to use the artist for this game.

Sadly we actually were never promised a huniepop sequal.

I like the new art style. It is cute and sexy. I especially like the hearts for pupils in the eyes and no it is not a sequel to on Huniepop. Also who promised you a sequel to Huniepop. Links please.
Erenussocrates Apr 5, 2016 @ 2:32pm
I don't remember the link nor place, but I remember reading something about devs promising a sequel (of some sorts) to Huniepop that would feature a city full of characters to date. (which could already imply to this game) Even if this game isn't really a direct sequel, one could see this as a spiritual successor of some sorts to huniepop.
The only interesting thing about sprites are the heart shaped pupils, everything else about the sprites are definitely downright disgusting and looks like a 90's cartoon compared to the artistry work in huniepop lol.
Not to mention people saying that the characters don't have a personality anymore and it's really boring.
Devs should feel bad for such a crappy work on this game with such high promises.

I'd really like to know where this "promise" came from, from my understanding the dev never had any intention of making a hunipop sequel

the art itself isn't bad, it's just different. One can say that like it or not, but at least is still an original idea. I personally liked most the huniepop art too, but can't say this toon style is poor made.
I know there was a poll regarding the art style and the vote to change it won...
But i feel that was a poll set up just to quiet down the rukus and the dev was going to ignore the results and continue using this style anyway, a Troll Poll if you will.

Obviously the art style is going to turn off some people when it comes to buying it. From the get-go a lot of people have complained that it looks too much like a facebook game and it looked cheap compared to the original...

Reviews i've looked through are even saying that it's not a true business simulation and that's it's more of a clicker game. So currently i'm still on the fence about buying it myself. But there's more to this game's quality than the art style...

That's what the dev was going for, this game is a parody of facebook and business management games

It is a clicker game. A very good clicker game with a erotic theme. It lacks the depth of any true simulator.

I'm gonna guess, knowing the dev, he basically just made it a bit as a joke.
He never intended to change the art style, he knew from the start that people would like the more "anime" like artstyle more, I mean, he even had the artist draw an anime version of one of the girls (Lillian) and it looked great, so it's not like the artist is bad, hella good I'd say, just that this was the artstyle the dev envisioned for this game, and wanted to stick with it.

Personally, I like it, it fits the facebook-like style of the game, which is what I'm guessing he was going for as some has mentioned already.

Now on the question of a Huniepop sequel, this isn't it, this is a spin-off.
I kind of remember reading he wanted to make a sequel at some point, but not 100% sure about it, but I'd love him for it.
Especially if he includes all the new girls from this game. :P

That's another important thing a lot of people are forgetting: THIS WAS INTENDED TO BE A SPIN OFF, not a direct sequel.

I also understand why he might have trouble coming up with a direct sequel to the original Huniepop - sometimes you won't be able to make success strike twice, even if you have existing recagnition...

Just posting this from the FAQ

Q: What’s the deal with this toon artstyle?
A: This is the most controversial decision we’ve made with this game and I completely understand why many HuniePop fans aren’t happy with it. We don’t intend to abandon anime forever but I really wanted to try something different with this game.
It was by no means an easy decision to stick with my gut on this matter in the face of so much criticism but ultimately I felt like I had to stay true to the vision. I don’t want anybody to feel that their input has been ignored or that I don’t care, I read every word of it. However, I think there is a real value in believing yourself and trusting “the soup”, as they say.
Those of you who have been around for a while may remember the fact that HuniePop got extremely harsh criticism for it’s dialog/writing before it came out. It turned out, as far as I can tell, to be one of the things people ended up enjoying most about it.
With that said, if the art style in this game is a deal breaker for you I completely understand and I hope our next game will be more suitable to your tastes.

Who knows, next game they do might have the anime style everyone loves?

Well, the idea from this game could work as a sequel, though things would be switched around, but centered around camgirls and non-camgirls.

(Prepare for creeper level: HuniePop/10, because we love that sht)
Take this game, shift the main character from a camgirl manager guy or whatever you are, into someone (guy/girl) who can watch the camgirls instead, if one wants to, or just run around town looking for girls like "normal" people do.
I say run around but you'd just get locations like in the first game, where you'd get a choice of which girl you want to talk to in some way, be it they are standing in the "distance" or just choices of names/features like hair colour.
Though gameplay like a side scroller would be cool too like "Cherry Tree High Comedy Club", though would need more sprites for characters you wouldn't be able to date lol.

For non-camgirls:
You would simply stumble upon them in town, or Kyu would guide you again for these girls, maybe given a choice if I want to start browsing around the computer or mindlessly walking around town, instead of being given a choice of a location where you're sure to find one, though this choice would still be there.
This would mostly be for recurring characters that have story from the first game that wouldn't fit in with being camgirls, Tiffany being a prime example, who hates her mom because she's a camgirl.
But maybe also a few new girls?

For camgirls:

You browse around the computer when you want to, each girl would have a set time they cam, you watch and get some of the CG from this.
You can browse around the town and because plot-convenience, all the girls you can watch are located in your city, so you might stumble into them, or you just might find out where they are camming from if they are careless (meaning slight CG changes that could drop hints) so you can go there when they've finished camming.

It's time for Kyu again, because we can't approach girls for sht, let alone our favourite camgirls so we gotta get help from our favourite love fairy.
We'd get choices like in the first one, we'd then get to do the other stuff from HP like ask girls questions/answer theirs.
And then the dating game, if that's match three again or not, who knows.

If any camgirls, or girls in general really, are reading this then, I do apologize for the sheer creepines of this post lol.

I guess believing in himself and "trusting the soup" didn't really work out this time, did it? lol.
Well, whatever the case, the users' inputs are important and I'm just putting my harsh critism here, so that hopefully, the dev might have an idea of what might be a good idea and what might not be, lol
I get nausea whenever I look at an ss of this game, ugh it's so bad! lol

He already knew a lot of people wasn't gonna like the artstyle, he had gotten a lot of hate about it after he revealed the first character.
Personally, like I've mentioned, I like it, it fits the theme, it's just a spin-off so if he does end up making a huniepop 2, then I'd bet on that he'd return to the anime artstyle.
