I don't know what engine or APIs you use but I consider the in-game option to disable vsync essential in this genre where responsiveness is pivotal.
I don't want to get a refund because you included Inachis io and an Actias genus (maenas?) on the first stage, and I love how you simulated the iridescence of the boss Morpho [look-alike] by changing colors! I wonder what the final boss is; Attacus atlas..? Acherontia atropos for TLB would be dope.
I hope it's technically viable to eliminate the input lag, even though it is somewhat alleviated by the relatively slow pace of the game.
I'm glad you're enjoying spotting all the different types of insects in Space Moth DX though, and thank you for supporting the game! The final boss is more celestial than the other enemies... look forward to meeting it!
Also, not to discredit your anecdotal evidence in particular, but generally I really wish we had a solid methodology and metrics to objectively measure input lag and share and compare results.
The reality is that you could sit two people at the same computer and still have one reporting that the lag is gamebreaking and the other saying there is none. In a typical case we're dealing with short enough delays that most people probably need to consciously look for it in order to notice it. If they don't, they may still experience an indefinite feeling of something about the game oddly being "off", or find it "difficult" without ever analyzing where that feeling originated.
I have seen and demonstrated this many times by having my friends try a game that happened to be new to them, and after they had their go I asked how they found the controls to be, and so far the number of times when input lag that was glaringly obvious to me went completely unnoticed by them vastly outnumbers the times they were aware of it (even after playing a game for over 30 minutes). In many cases out of those, they had difficulty telling if the lag really was there even after I had told them. But if the issue had a fix and I applied it, mostly people reported back that the change was noticeable. Sometimes they said simply that it "felt better". A few times they were not sure whether there was any change after the fix had been applied, although it was obvious to me.
That's why a lot of these discussions are just a bunch of handwaving and shrugging.
