This game plays nothing like the Naruto Storm games or J-Stars. You have to use strategy, it's rock, paper, scissors. It's more complex with the 3 vs 3 battle system with exclusive One Piece gameplay mechanics. Such as stop time in a instant to perform extand combos or moving slow motion "Spidey Sense" to get away from opponent or attack them before they do. It also has similar gameplay elements to Naruto Storm and Pokken Tournament like some characters can set up traps anywhere in the stage to bait their oppoent.
J-Stars wasn't a fighting. It was a casual anime brawler. The developers didn't developed it as a fighting game. It's not even that depth compared to Burning Blood which is focused as a 1 on 1 area fighter with team assist elements. J-Stars did have a little depth "tag team combos', but that's it. If we get J-Stars 2, it will be better because the PS3 and PSV won't hold it back. I also hope it get a PC version since it's same developers for One Piece Burning Blood. That would be awesome.
The online not very active compared to Naruto Storm games or Dragon Ball Xenoverse games, you have to find friends to play with.
It's deeper than j stars though, it definitely feels like what that game should have been. I can't even bring myself to pick up that game anymore its just so damn shallow.
There's no such thing of what J-Stars should have been. It was spiritual successor to the J-Stars Nintendo DS games developed by Ganbarion, but as a 3D arena brawler. Bandai Namco could have got any developer to develop a J-Stars game for the anniversary. Spike Chunsoft were probably the only one available.
By your logic, it's like saying Jojo Bizarre Adventure All Stars Battle and Jojo Bizarre Adventure Eyes of Heaven are both the same game because they are developed by the same developers "CyberConnect2". But they are not, both games have different focus, one is fighter and the another is brawler.
Shallow minded people like you are so stupid. I will laugh my ass off if you compare J-Stars Victory VS/VS+ and One Piece Burning Blood to Spike Chunsoft next future titles being skins of those games.
CyberConnect2 .hack Versus game and Naruto Storm games are both similar, but no one gave a ♥♥♥♥.
Dimps Saint Seiya games and My Hero Academia 3DS game are both similar, but no one gave a ♥♥♥♥
Eighting Naruto/Naruto Shippuden Clash of Ninja/Revolution games, Zatch Bell Mamodo Battles, Bleach: Heat the Soul are all similar, but no one gave a ♥♥♥♥.
Street Fighter and Rival School games developed by Capcom are both similar, but no one gave a ♥♥♥♥.
Street Fighter VS Tekken used Street Fighter gameplay mechanics, but no one gave a ♥♥♥♥. Same thing going to happen with Tekken VS Street Fighter. The Tekken team will used their gameplay mechanics, especially based on Akuma in Tekken 7.
J Stars Victory VS/VS+ wasn't even Spike Chunsoft first 2v2 game, it was Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi Tag Team. This game has a way better 2v2 battle system than J Stars Victory VS/VS+ because they used the Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 engine and no one gave a ♥♥♥♥. The game had everything. I'm shocked it didn't get a sequel to follow up with Dragon Ball characters, Dragon Ball GT characters, and expand the 2v2 battle system. I guess it was just a side project.
No one bring up the Gundam team because their 2v2 Dragon Ball Arcade game is not even that depth compared to Spike Chunsoft Dragon Ball games. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with it, but if Bandai Namco port it to PS4, XB1, and PC they would lose sales and the game would die because the lack characters and modes. A lot fans like the Dragon Ball Xenoverse series, so Bandai Namco might as well stick to that. Rise of Incarnates, a game also developed by the Gundam team didn't have a good repuation. Hints why it was shut down and the developers were thinking about porting it to the PS4. Such a waste, oh well. The Gundam team should just stick to their Gundam games and let other developer develop their games the way they want. It doesn't matter who's better at developing 2v2 battle system, it's about the game being fun for everyone to play.
Sad to see a new One Piece fighting game we waited 10 years for get turn off like this just because of the developers bad repuation of their last game.
Based on the complaints of Burning Blood being too hard or people can't understand the game well. Spike Chunsoft might remove the haki/logia gameplay mechanics and 3 vs 3 battle system(unity chain, assist, and clash). This might upset a lot of people since that's how the developers advertise this game, but it's not their fault. They need to make sure everyone can play the game equally. This is the same situation with Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2. Bandai Namco and Spike dropped Dragon Ball Raging Blast 3 because the fanbase had a hard time understanding how to play the second game. They developed Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi instead so everyone can play equally.
CyberConnect2 wouldn't do any better job either. Not every anime game needs to play like Naruto Storm games or their won't much variety in the gaming market. CyberConnect2 is quality over quantity based on their Road To Boruto DLC expansion pack. They focus way too much on the 3 to 4 hours Boruto story mode, but won't develop the main villains or any characters part of the story mode as playable characters (Confirmed by CyberConnect2 Naruto Twitter account). If CyberConnect2 did develop a One Piece fighting game, it wouldn't be the same as Burning Blood at all. The fighting system would be very similar to their Naruto Storm games or .hack Versus game. 1-2 health bar, energy bar, stamina/sub bar, QTEs, traditional/health remains rounds, up/down/side combo, and one special technique. Not to mention, they would release the main game, the next year a spin-off game, then main game, and after that main game complete edition. Nobody wants to deal with CyberConnect2 scummy tactics, lack of support, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ netcode unless you only care about the story mode. These fools still haven't patch Jojo Bizarre Adventure Eyes of Heaven and I paid a full $60 retail for that game.
I would say a One Piece game similar to the Dragon Ball Xenoverse, but the game would be way too unbalance with the CAC. Not to mention, the One Piece world is bigger than Dragon Ball.
I want a One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 to play as Gear 4th Luffy, but most people think those are extremely boring and repetitve.
So, new One Piece open world games developed Level5, Platinum Games, Tri-Crescendo, CyberConnect2 (Not a fighting game), or Ubisoft seems like the only option.
I'm done.
learn to read a bit before writing an essay about a something that wasn't even said.
my problem is that im afraid that the game is as shallow as jstar is, in the ninja storm games you can do alot of combos, cancel combos etc, from the gameplay i saw it looks like one piece has 1 combo that you spam over and over again + 3 specials
there is an auto combo you can spam if you want to
but you can chain with other attacks to create your own combos as well.
If your looking for guilty gear or blaz blue lvl depth your not going to find it here but its still a dam fun game and I dont even like the one peice anime very much but im enjoying this game still.
