It has a story mode BUT it is a story mode
split into 4 characters' perspectives that all go through the same story.
Each path (called "episodes"), are roughly 1-2 hours each. You WILL see many of the
same cinematic animations in each episode.
Example,
Episode Luffy ... you play Luffy to take down opposition. Insert animation.
Episode Whitebeard ... you play Whitebeard who taks down opposition. Insert same animation.
Really, the story in this game isn't suppose to encomposs substantial anime recaps.
The story mode is just here so that it checks it off as a mandatory mode for a fighting game.
Again, people will want to buy this game to experience the fighting mechanics of
One Piece characters with Haki and Devil Fruit powers.
the Marinford battle. The battle to save Ace. Just don't expect anything fancy...
For example luffy vs akainu didnt go so well, luffy had a hard time with that in the manga. So hes really hard ingame, nothing unbeatable, but hard.
The story mode isnt a big part of this game, its miniscule compared to the wanted posters
lolgube is correct. The story mode IS NOT THE MEAT of the game.
There is Pirate Flag mode, Wanted Posters mode ( this mode is easily longest to complete),
and lastly Online mode.
