Patch 1.035 is live now, bringing official gamepad support to AETHUS!

With the game going on sale for the next two weeks as of tomorrow 6PM BST (10AM PST), there's never been a better time to pick up a copy and begin your adventure!

For clarity, this also includes full Steam Deck control support. I am working on getting the game verified (there's more work to do around performance mainly) but it should be totally playable if you adjust the settings!

Remember, you can always try out the free demo (which has also been updated with support) and see if the game is for you, risk-free!

Focus: Gamepad Support

New Features

Added official Gamepad Support for any standard gamepad/controller including Steam Deck.
I've been hard at work getting this working as I know how many of you love to kick back and play with a controller.
I've added a brand new interaction scheme specifically for gamepad, which simplifies the most common game actions like interactions, gathering resources and using facilities!
The UI cursor (and 3D cursor) is still available for precise control and interaction, handily attached to holding the left trigger and moving the right stick.
Added additional facility signage to the Lost World, Magma Rifts and the internals of Scarpa Climber facilities.

Fixes

Fixed not being able to place items in build mode if colliding with destructible resources and collision checks are off.
Fixed build menu checkboxes potentially being non-interactable when global UI scaling is increased.

I am keen to make the gamepad support the best it can possibly be, so please feel free to leave constructive feedback - it's always welcome!

New Features

- Added a new 'Resources' Game Modifier to the New Game screen and the Settings menu, which allows for adjusting resource drop rates higher or lower than standard.

Improvements

- Dialogues that trigger when the player returns to the surface now also play if the player has died, to reduce potential confusion or a need to quit to menu and resume game or go underground again to trigger them.

- Improvements to the grammar of the Module Authenticator item flavour text.

Fixes

- Fixed the possibility of the player losing items when using a level transition as they died.
- Fixed placeable items retaining a link to habitats when moved outside of them which could cause issues with habitat deletion and/or containers temporarily keeping a bonus from the storage hab when moved outside.
- Fixed bad collision on the natural rock bridge near Facility Rho which could cause the player to slide off.
- Fixed the formatting of the Passing Out tutorial.
- Fixed NVIDIA Image Scaling not working correctly in the settings menu.
- Fixed the cutaway for the Manufacturing Hab triggering when on the roof.
- Fixed roof glass visuals on Manufacturing Hab.
- Fixed the player potentially being able to die and not get back to Omega.

Are there plans to translate the game into other languages? From what I’ve read in previous threads, the developer mentioned that this would happen when the Early Access version was released. The Early Access version came out a few months ago, and now there seems to be complete silence on the matter. It would be nice if they’d just confirm once and for all whether it will remain in English only or if it will be translated into other languages—and if Spanish will be among them. Great little game, was fun to complete.

The only thing is that it not very long to complete, is very linear, and does not have any replayability once completed.

At first I thought it was a procedural game where you could go anywhere, but that is not really the case. You pretty much need to go through very specific steps and progression in a linear way.

There is not much to buy or sell in the game once you have completed most of the game, and once you have gathered enough of all resources there is no real point to gather more. It would be great if you could do somethign with those (sell them, upgrade more, meta progressions perhaps...)

Also, related to power generation, I did not see the need to use the more fancy power sources that you unlock later on. A lot of the basic power generators are so cheap to make that you could probably run your entire base only on those. I did create a few other types like windmill and one solar panel, but that wasn't really required.

Great game that really hits the Subnautica itch. Got emotionally attached to the characters - adding the survival and exploration gameplay combined with story makes the game wonderful. One note - I highly recommend changing the settings so that you have the highest carry weight setting, as it alleviates the tedium of running back and forth.

They ran out of good ideas pretty early on. Story is decent but even that runs out of steam and it becomes a bunch of fetch quests to make you run back to base to craft something and run back. Should have been much shorter and would have been better.

I had a nasty hardware failure last weekend so a lot of this week was lost to getting that sorted... I think we're all good now, though!

New Features

- Objects in the world that are colliding with what you're constructing in Build Mode will now be highlighted. Structures like Habitats will only be highlighted when constructing other Structures.
- Added the 'Shock Absorbers' Upgrade to the Trade Node which increases the distance you can fall before taking damage by 50%.

Improvements

- Improved the backup save system to not save on the main menu which reduces potential for 'identical' backups.
- Increased maximum backup saves to 12 from 10.
- Updated Bladestone, Vitaglass, Depthane's Heart and Miner's Bane descriptions to reflect their use in lens crafting.
- Updated the Consuming Items tutorial to make it very clear you need to eat the Cactus Fruit to finish the tutorial.

Fixes

- A dialogue that plays after returning with a certain character that provides a new facility type should now play reliably.
- Fixed Ancient Bones not being placeable into the world.
- Fixed the potential for the player to be stuck mesmerized.
- Fixed the player being able to die during mesmerization.

Replayability

First I just want to make clear this is not a complaint - This is the best game I have played in a long time. But maybe due to that - I miss it and want to jump back in. But instead of restarting the main story, it would be nice to have some game play loop that is available only after completing the game, that allows you to build up an economy in the location as that was the original intention for her to purchase it - maybe some simple rewards and a minor story that is a "base" for the developers future ...
