We had an Asus laptop that instead of using the GeForce graphic card used the motherboard GPU to run the game. So, of course, it didn't work out well.
To force the use of the Geforce, we had to do that:
From NVIDIA Control Panel
3D Settings->Manage 3D Settings
Tab "Global setttings"
Preferred Graphics Processor
Select : High performance NVIDIA processor
Hopefully it's the same problem and it's the right fix!
Cheers.
Whatever the case, the game has been using the dedicated graphics card, unfortunately.
I am willing to send you DxDiag files or anything else that you might need. I really do like this game very much.
Thanks!
Edit: I wish I could be more specific about the problems I'm having. The FPS drops occur almost at random. I've seen them happen mostly when the camera pans out, like when the boss starts shooting, leading me to believe it could be something to do with the particles (?).
But that's not the only time. I feel the rain itself on the first boss could also be the cause, as the FPS *seems* most inconsistent there. Mind you, this could all still be due to the sound issue, because some of the musical transitions (between the loops) are subtle.
The actual freezing occurs when the sound loop changes. This means that between almost every boss phase, when the soundtrack changes, the game will freeze for a couple of moments. This can, especially when in duel mode, throw me off balance and get me K.O.-ed.
I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Another thing that we did encounter during development, is that if we had Skype notifications in the background while we were playing a build, it caused small freezes (very short, not what I call a FPS drop, but more like a very short freeze that can still be very annoying in a fast-paced game like Furi). Maybe you have other software running in the background that could cause that?
I don't use Skype, for one. The out-standing apps that are running in the background are Steam, GOG Galaxy and Discord. I *could* try closing these, but I've never had any such issue in any other game, and the laptop can probably take these three apps in the background, honestly.
In fact, now that I think about it, I lie. Perhaps this will shed some light on the issue: I've had a similar issue, unresolved, in Homeworld: Remastered Collection. Though no FPS drops occured, the sountrack would frantically freeze, and overloop (as in, it would play one part on top of the other) etc.
I could not find a solution, nor any help from the developers, unfortunately and since this was a one-off, I just cut my losses and wrote off an otherwise great game. Not before completing it, though, but you can imagine what it was like to have the drama ruined by terrible sound glitches.
I will try to update the sound drivers now, just to be sure, but I am sceptical of it being the culprit.
I realize how troubleshooting this can feel like, as I was a costumer support agent once, so please don't feel pressured at all. I am very grateful for your responses, and any other ideas I will appreciate.
I hope we can sort this out, because I want to stream this game.
