Comic Book Hero: The Greatest Cape

Comic Book Hero: The Greatest Cape

Any plans on A second Comic Book Hero game?
I know that the developer is working on the new TEW2020 game but if any of the Devs can tell me If A second Comic book Hero game is down the pipeline our another super hero sim? this game is really good in my opinion and if it was utilized with some of the new systems seen in even TEW 2016 our even WMMA 5 it would be amazing!

This game is basically abandonware. I messaged the dev asking if he would open source but he declined, so only hope of a sequel is if he decide to return to it someday

I tried that "Sequel" and found that it was pretty much a completely different game than Comic Book Hero: The Greatest Cape. The world only has 7 heroes in it. World customization has you go into the game folder and edit a text file. A LOT of features, and customizations that are in Comic Book Hero are missing. Game play has less customization, and less stuff to do. It's like a very simplified version of Comic Book Hero. Comic Book Hero Lite, essentially. Comic Book Hero, in my opinion is still the more complete game in my opinion. My perfect sequel to this game would pretty much be this exact same game, but with an improved code for social interactions (For instance, if I'm in a superhero group, and I try to meet up with another member of the group, there really shouldn't be much of a chance that suddenly, out of nowhere, I'd end up in a fight with that hero, for instance. And if I say, ended up teamed up with a hero to fight a villain, I shouldn't get into a fight with them when trying to meet up with them separately.) And I would like to see maybe a section of the database for weapons and gadgets. And turn based multiplayer, like in the TEW series, would be nice. Code of Heroes just isn't my thing compared to this game. It stripped out all the stuff I love about this game in what appeared to be a way to make it less fiddly and complex. I, however LOVE the complexity, and I absolutely LOVE playing with that database editor, building my own worlds.

I agree with you and I prefer comic book hero, the greatest cape because it is more complete (with by example love relations ships and many over social things) and more complete for modding (you can costumize foes with names etc...). The using of database as access was a good idea because it help for modding and customize all relations between characters and also provide many information as biblio.

I think the greatest cape 2 should be like the first one but with more moderne interface, sounds effects and equipement as Code of Superheroes. I could also modding the events and new mission as rescue hostage or friends.

I do no understand why they didn't make a real sequel of this game or provide the open source of the game to the community to do it if the autor didn't want to modify or update it.
Actually I gave up creation of mods for this game and prefer the game erannorth reborn data which can be fully modded and his autor is very at listen to the community demands.

I totally understand were you guys are coming from I really hope in the future they make an actual sequel to this game because I have made a lot of mods for this game and the only reason I did not release any of them is because this game was abandoned by the devs I tryed the demo of Code of Superheros and the lack of Customization turned me away from buying it. guess I will continue playing this and hope for a true Sequel :dos2skull:

Interesting.

I was just looking at their site and wondering why the "sequel" was more expensive ($24.95 USD) and not on Steam. I guess now I know.

It's a stripped down version with jacked up price (Greatest Cape is $7 USD in my country). I'm guessing they were hoping to get some fans of Greatest Cape to buy that game and make more profit (no 30% for Steam and publisher) with less effort.

Disappointing. Instead of improvement, they went with a "scam". :lunar2019deadpanpig:

EDIT: They are selling Greatest Cape on their site for $24.95 as well, no link to Steam at all. I wonder if they had a falling out with publisher or just not fans of Steam.

Omg, I just tried the demo of Code of Superheroes... And it's one of the worst games I tried/played this year :D
A sequel of CBH would be nice, with a dynamic world like the TEW series, but I doubt they will ever make one or at least one which is worth the money.

I think Grey Dog only focusses on TEW because it has the biggest fanbase and therefore makes the most money. It's sad, they did some good stuff in former days but now they produce expensive crap ;)

Its very unfortunate but what you say is correct they are some functions in Code of Superheros that would have been great but the horrible lack of customization is its downfall i am guessing they might have wanted to go in a different direction but Grey Dog Games are known for there wide verity of Customization that game will not do good in sales especially for the price point they are asking for hopefully they do make a proper CBH sequel because they are people that do enjoy this genre

What would be on your wishlist for a sequel except customization?

1) I would love to play as a villain make Schemes to take over city's/world

2) would love to add music to the game our they can have there own music files in the game its not a big issue because you can easily play music in the background but that something i would like.

3) they need to revamp the Psychological Evaluation levels of the characters way to easy to get over stressed very hard to get into a friendship our romance unless already preset

4) would like to know age of character if they are 10 year old human our 1000 year old alien mutant also how long they were a hero and our a Villain would really make the game more immersive

5) have legacy characters. when human etc charterers get to old they can have children with there mate and there child can take up the mantel inherit powers from the mother and father our a character can train a civilian and that civilian can become a hero same thing with villains.

6) more powers and ability's

7)city's and towns have leaders/ governments and police forces theses will have meters on there view on hero's if the meter is high these people/ forces will support the heroes over the villains when it is low they will be more corrupt leaders will make deals with villains police will try to take down hero and Villain alike.

this is it for now that I can think of that does not deal with Customization :kawatongue:

The publisher hasn't released anything since 2016, so I'm guessing they went under and the devs don't feel like releasing their games on Steam themselves.

that's unfortunate they have a lot of games that I know a lot of people would love to see on here I know it might be a pain to strike a deal with another Publisher if in fact they don't want to publish it on here themselves but they do have a following that even when they have to split the earnings with a publisher and Valve they will do fine and plus Steam is a Good place to Showcase your games to get more publicly.

Hi,
I have played and tested other good games on steam which can be more modded easily (and you can make a total conversion mods) but are more or less mix card and rpg games :

1) Popup Dungeon (easily modding for a total conversion mod)
2) Erannorth Reborn (more complex to make a total conversion mod)

Best regards
