So, what "map"?

I've not played very far yet (just unlocked access to the village) but I keep getting tutorial hint messages about being able to use the map and click on places to travel quickly and such. However even after starting from scratch and hammering all my keyboard buttons twice, there's nothing telling me how to actually open the map? Can't find it in journal or codex so... do you get it later or something? If so the early tutorial messages are wildly misleading, at least for me...

Help? I feel like I'm missing the absolute obvious here...

There is definitely a map accessible from the beginning... Can't remember which button it was, maybe C or tab... Something like that. Your controls should be in the settings somewhere, right?

There aren't any controls settings tho, and no, C opens the Codex which doesn't seem to contain a map and tab doesn't do anything... :/

I'm almost certain that it was tab, so I'm not sure why that's not working... When you get the message, it doesn't tell you which key it is? In the worst case, I guess you could use a map found online.

1:31, the prompt appears and it is tab. If you're not too far into it, you could try to restart or even reinstall?

Hmmh thanks, doesn't work for me, will try to reinstall, see if it fixes it. Gonna unplug any controllers too (you never know) tho that's a bit of a pilgrimmage for me...

Forgot to followup on this.
Reinstalling actually DID fix the issue for some reason. I litterally could not use the map (pressing TAB), uninstalled and redownloaded the game via steam, lo and behold: now it works at the same point of progress in the game I had before.
What a weird issue, feels quite random.
