Krater

Is this a hack n' slash dungeon crawler or something else?
I'm really confused about the reviews for this game, they describe it as a hack n' slash dungeon crawler and compare it to Diablo 3 but looking at trailers and screenshots, it looks more like a traditional RPG with an overhead map where you travel from town to town and have a bunch of different dungeons.

So which is it? Is this game more like Torchlight where you spend the vast majority of the time in closed 10 level dungeons, picking up endless loot and doing simple quests like "find me 5 dark crystals" or is it more like Fallout where travel to different towns and outposts, have conversations with NPCs, get elaborate quests and fight in a large variety of small, quest oriented dungeons?

I really can't stand dungeon crawlers so I would like to know.

Meh, the reviews got it wrong comparing it to Diablo 3. There's definitely a loot game + crafting in it and dungeon diving, but much of that is optional as there's a big chunk of quest content on and under the surface + subquests across the part of the krater we access to and plenty of random battles on the surface that drop loot and cafting parts.

It's not fallout though either, as while you have three toons to control in your squad, it's all realtime and tactics are simplified and come down to good use of boosters + the plot/writing's straight forward with a bit of humour (swedish).

Probably best to find a Lets Play of Krater if you've got the time spare for one.

I`d say its more like the old fallout games but in real time, you definitely have to play smart specially in the hardcore difficulty. Try out the demo on the store page.

It's post apocalyptic but it's definitely not like Fallout. It's hack and slash. Trying out the demo is a good suggestion.

Thanks guys, I didn't even notice this had a demo because I'm so used to PC games not having any.
