The creators have been pretty open about their inspiration from VP.
Another big difference is that battles happen on the game world, so it's possible to position yourself where you can win the fight by just knocking an enemy off a ledge, or vice-versa. Enemies wandering around the map can also join into a fight that's ongoing. There are even some enemies that will deliberately exit the battle so they can attack you at range on the game world, and you'll have to find an opportunity to stun them so you can continue combo-ing them with the team again.
Of course there are many other things. Navigating the game world is much more heavily inspired by games like Super Metroid and MMX than VP, Battles have a defensive phase that's more reminiscent of the Mario RPG games, and there are other nuances to the function of various attacks and super attacks. Even for someone acquainted with VP, there will a bit of a learning curve to get used to how everything works together.
After what they did to the original Valkyrie Profile IP im really glad someone else is picking up the torch.
not really sure what you are refering to here. vp1 vp2 and covenant of the plume were all good even if plume was the worst of the three. the only thing I can think is the mobage in japan that never got a western release, which makes no sense considering many titles that have mobages still get regular installments. the diector behind the VP series has repeatedly tried to get a vp3 proposal through and has failed.
so im not sure wht exactly they have done that is so wrong other than not making a game in a while. even then they released vp lenneth on IOS recent-ish which is the first time VP1 has ever been available to a wide audience.
Jesus. Ask Sacred fans how they liked Sacred 3. I bet that's how they would have reacted.
In other words they killed it and only milk mobile gacha now. I hope all my favourite IP's end up that way.
