Dude is like Lucy with the football, even if they made a 5th Deponia game I would expect it to end exactly as the previous 2. So there really isn't much point.

IMHO: I like the ending of the current game, BUT i do think that another one can be made. Because at the end, goal tells the player, that only she and the utopians can remember and that she is now in the time, where rufus meets future goal. So Deponia 5 is still possible... and maybe next time we play goal instead of rufus.

What about a prequel for Rufus and Goal? It still wouldn't be a happy ending, but I will take all the extra Rufus and Goal I can get.

I am pretty sure there won't be a 5th game, the Deponia Doomsday was all about that you shouldn't change the end. That was the games theme all the time, beginning with the intro and Pokis Song.

The junk knight's comment is ironic though. A conclusion can't be perfect if you are asking for a continuation. That's the whole message of the game.

There are a lot of metaphors in this game that seem to go right over a lot of people's heads.

well i`m only ever buying this franchise if they get a friggin happy ending.(watched the end in a youtube video)

why make a sad ending for rufus and goal? WHY?

if they make a fifth game but this time with a happy ending instead of such a crappy ending i will buy the entire franchise in a heartbeat

well now they got a chance for a happy ending in a way considering how the 4rth ended with rufus being alive well actully old and current rufus and goal and those utopians we could get another adventure there./spoiler]

well i can wait another year, i know nobody cares but i honestly hate sad endings especially in a comedy game like this one.

if they get a happy ending(happy ever after) i will buy all 5 games in the franchise otherwise not giving a cent

I wonder if blatantly saying that making a fourth one was not a good idea really counts as a methaphore.Still,want a fifth one,want a happy ending( Even if the game starts with "Huzzah, happy now, princess?"),seeing as Rufus deserves one...well that Rufus that let go (twice) and not that old... The 4th game created countless alternate universe timelines, not just a single linear timeline, because there were two major loops. We didn't even get to see the one where Elysium makes it to Utopia. Not only did Rufus travel through the 4th dimension, he traveled through the 5th dimension as well! Somewhere, somewhen, there are alternate universes where Rufus and Goal are happily together, which is subtly implied by the platypusses that end up making tons of babies. We simply don't get to see them in a happy ending in this game.

Well , if they ever make a 5th one and it does have a "good" ending , at that point , i will play the deponia games i have and buy this one and said 5th game.

Until then , nope , not even bothering.

I wasn't expecting a good ending. I wanted the game because I love spending time making Rufus cause chaos and do silly things. If you are just playing it for a happy ending, not appreciating the actual content and characters of the game, then by all means don't play this game.
