Hmmm, that is very strange, the game should resheck achievements every time it is started up
My game keeps randomly closing down while I am playing. It's not crashing, since I can still bring it up to play. But every once in a while, it just randomly closing out. Like I just bought some chickens, and the minute I got bought the second chicken it closed down. I am unsure of what to do?
1. The game is set to always on top. That needs to be changed to at least give people an option whether they want to turn it on or not. It's an idle game though, no reason for that setting to even be in there.
2. The game has a major issue with the cursor and mouse positioning. Whatever method you are using for focus, the cursor disappears when you are anywhere near the window frame. So, you have your game screen running all the way to the outside of the window frame instead of being confined to the inside dimensions of the frame.
3. When you hit Alt-Enter, which is pretty much a default Windows key combination for full screen, the game freaks out, multi-monitor systems get the windows completely messed up, the game takes more than one monitor width of screen real estate and the main game screen goes black. At that point you have to screw around to get control of the game window back, because there is no interface anymore. Obviously, you need to fix how the game handles full screen and screen resolutions.
Not a bug per se, but you could use some mouse-over tooltips to explain what the buttons do. Also the delete process could be made far more logical by clicking the garbage can, then the thing you want to delete, and then a simple, single confirmation window, rather than the un-intuitive way you are doing it now.
Thanks for the feedback! Some confusion from me though. How do you mean always on top? I assumed you meant that the game is always at the front over every other thing like browser tabs and folders you have open on your desktop etc but when I tried this it is not the case for me? Do you mean something else?
Also about the trashing process how and where do you think the prompt should appear?
i uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and now it says "access denied" (0x5) every time i try to boot it up instead of plantera.exe is missing
That is strange. The game should continue to resheck achievement states so for example if there is an achievement where you should buy 5 garden expansions but you have not got the achievement try buying another expansion and it should resheck for it. If you still can't get them to unlock then send send me a message and I can try to help!
your game unfortunately doesn't react to the numpad as replacement/addition for the mouse. Such a modern game should be able bc currently it's not playable for people who can't click a lot with the mouse. it's a barrier that make it unplayable in that case.
I'm happy not much games seems to have this problem, but it's sad that that yours is one of the not playable ones. So bought for nothing :(
Do you plan to fix this sometimes?
Greetings
Thank you for this feedback I was not aware of this! How do you mean it would become more playable for people who can't click a lot with the mouse it they can use the numpad?
First I thought you meant that you want to be able to control the camera with the numpad, but you mean to control the actual mouse? Do you have an example of this I can look at?
Also I found this article on how to turn on mouselook with numpad in windows, would that work in your case?
https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000542.htm
Also would a controller support options (like support for xbox controller) be helpful instead?
Another method I use myself on some games to rebind how the game works is JoyToKey
https://joytokey.net/en/
With this program you can rebind any button on your controller to another function. For example you could rebind to steer the mouse with the controller stick or buttons very easy with this program.
It is very simple to use, but if you need help on how to use it I could help you set it up
thanks for the answer and that you're interested to make your game more accessible. That's great to hear.
There are illnesses like fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, small fiber neuropathy..., that make incredible pain in the fingers (and others who make it nearly not possible to hold the mouse, too). So every mouse click hurts, dragging something with the mouse is even worse. That takes the chance to play a lot of games especially in genres like action, hack 'n slash, ARPG,... impossible. That's hard if you love video games but your body isn't willing to let you do that or just for a very short time in exchange for massive pain.
I know, not every game can be made accessible for that. I'm happy if a few games make it possible so save clicks with button lock functions, but there are so much possible barriers, it seems impossible to make them playable for everybody.
For games with less clicks and no/not much time pressure it's sometimes possible to find solutions - as long they don't deny to let you play with others than mouse/keybord. Most games seems to be able to react, but unfortunately not all. So even more games become unplayable even there would be the chance with that small change.
For me, I'm using a mouse I'm my right hand for moving the cursor, drag items and right clicks that are difficult one the numpad. In my left hand I use the numpad with the function to use it as mouse. I use it for every left click and middle click, so the pain is divided up to 2 hands.
I know people who use additional some switches for the feet, but I unfortunately don't own one to say if your game works with that. I could imagine, that it don't work if numpad isn't working yet.
So yes, I talk about use the numpad as mouse itself, not just for the camera. It's a regular function in Windows.
Your link shows what I use, yes. But your game shows no reaction by click on the activated numpad. Just by click on the "real" mouse. That's the adressed problem.
The possibility to use the gamepad is a good option. But on days illnesses make it hurting/not possible to hold something, it's no replacement if the games are playable with just a few keys (like your Plantera game). It's more a great addition so people can freely decide what's better for them. Especially there are other diseases with other requirements to being able to play, the possibility to choose is always the best way.
For games that are not just playable with the mouse and a few keys, the possibility to use a gamepad is even more important, yes. P. e. I'm not able to use W A S D for let a character move. That constellation of fingers hurt as hell. Every game where you have to do more than some clicks, the function to use a gamepad is requirement for a chance to play.
So it's always good to add this function in a game with few clicks. But being able to use other input devices to make it more accessible for more players is still important (and as said, I just talk about my own experiences. There are more input devices for other disabilities and specially made for that.)
For more complex controls, being able to use the gamepad is definitely a requirement to took away barriers.
And even not based on disabilities, I know a lot of people who just prefer gamepads and it's always a reason more to buy/play a game if the game support one. So a good customer friendly function :)
But for using gamepad I need to add: it's important to be able to let users change the buttons freely. If the game says that the most used buttons are the ones that are pushed with the most painful fingers or maybe with buttons the person isn't able to touch (p. E. the constellation of fingers), the game gets unplayable too.
Unfortunately I have games with exactly that problem here. They support gamepad, but don't let me decide which function should be on which button. The standard hurts as hell, the games are not playable.
Or in short: even not every disability can be considered in every game, being able to use more input devices like numpad, support of gamepad and let users decide about key assignment, will give a lot of more people the chance to play the game and it would be great if that 3 would be a standard minimum accessibility (without using third programs (& extra costs) to let users try to fix it by themselves).
I don't know JoyToKey yet. But thank you for this hint. That could help for games that don't react on gamepad regularly. As far I will find some time I will try the demo and try if games, that don't react on numpad emulation yet, react on that. That could be a help.
Thanks for the offer, I should be able to do it. Just need to find some time for that extra work.
I see thank you for the info! I will try to look into this more, but I am only one person working on both Plantera 1 and 2 so I can't say exactly when I can get around to it! It seems strange that Plantera does not recognize a mouse click of binding a keyboard button with a program for mouse click. I just tried though with JoyToKey to bind my gamepad to be used as a mouse and mousclick and this worked in Plantera :) So I hope that could work for you in the meantime! Again if you need help setting it up just send me message!
Also there are a lot of tutorials out there on how to do it but it is quite straight forward! Here is one example:

Sorry to hear about your disability also and I hope there will come more tools to make it easier to play. I remember a guy who made a video of Plantera back when it released playing with without arms which was quite impressive! :O
