Here are some tips to help you get started.
I haven't played a very long time, yet, but I'm making some good money and have learned a few things.

Buy a dog and a scarecrow as soon as you can. Once you start raking in some cash, buy more accordingly, as they help with the critter management.

Expanding your territory by clicking the arrow signs will also grant you more workers. One new worker for each expansion you buy.

Under the same tab as the dog and scarecrow, there are two other options. One says +1h, and while it looks like a one hour boost, it's actually how long your guys will collect fruit for you, while you're offline. Each time you purchase this, the time will increase permanently.
In otherwords, you want to steadily buy these upgrades.

The second option puts a multiplier on your income. If you got 6 for a pumpkin, you'll get 12 after purchasing this upgrade. The thing is, this upgrade can be purchased again and again, multiplying even further. 6 becomes 12, becomes 18, becomes 24, etc. This upgrade makes the single biggest difference to your income, so upgrade it often.

While this game is a clicker, the keyboard can be used to scroll left to right via the A and D keys. This means having one hand on the mouse and one hand on the keyboard will allow you to tap the A or D button while quickly clicking the mouse button to collect stuff on the ground.

Where this becomes really useful is when the knight enters the screen and you want to get as many clicks on him as possible. Get him on screen, then start clicking him and tapping the D key to keep your mouse cursor over him. You won't have to move the mouse to keep him targetted, just time your D presses well enough to keep him under the cursor.

That's about all I've figured out, in regards to useful tips, so far. There is the usual advice of deleting low level crops and replacing them with higher level stuff, but that is kinda "no duh!" territory, so we'll just leave it at that.

Enjoy the game.

And also on the Knight you can click his portrait on the left (when he arrives at your farm) to automatically move your camera to him. Saves from having to scroll all the way over and or move your mouse down to click the left arrow.

Q and E also jump your camera to the ends of your farm.

The knight also seems to always run from left to right making it easier to get him once you hear the running soundfx.
