Settings/suggestions for Fog/Fog Patches
Can't see much, maybe 10-20 feet ahead because the fog is too dense. Checked some youtube videos and it seems people can see much better or the fog is less dense. "Fog Patches" are the worst. Looking at the results at Community events that are currently full of Foggy races, the people must see through fog much better than I do.

Any settings that are helpful (I have motion blur disabled, but it doesn't help)?

Win 7 Pro
GTX 1070 (drivers v. 388.71)
16 GB RAM

Is the visibility better outside the cockpit view (which I always use)?

Otherwise, the game is running with no problems and is stable.

I'd think that in-car camera is better for it but I use it for everything. If visibility is 10m then surely the further forward the camera is, the further you'll be able to see.
The fog density seems to vary based on location. I tend to be able to see pretty well through Swedish fog and find that Michigan fog is like driving through soup.

My bad ... I'm always inside the car (cockpit view) and I can't switch to an outside view during the race due to difficulty settings in which outside views are disabled. And you are right, I haven't had much problems in Sweden with fog, but everywhere else I do, including Spain. "Fog Patches" on my computer are basically very dense fog covering entire maps/tracks. The standard "fog" is maybe a bit better but still considerable frustration. When I look many of youtube videos of DiRT 4 fog they seem much less dense and it's almost like fog in Dirt Rally which is OK for me (more of a challange than frustration). That's why I though that it could be some setting that I can either check on or off that would make some difference. Thanks much :)

You could always try different video settings. It's likely "Weather Effects" or particles if not.

Yes, you are right on! Turned "Particles" from the highest to off and the fog is better now. Fog Patches are patches now and don't cover an entire map. Fog is also a bit better or more driveable. Will try to find weather effects and see if they make any dif. Thanks much!

Turning down the gamma seems to help.

Try lowering shaders also. Dunno about in this, but in DiRT Rally you could essemtially turn off all vision-impairing weather effects by turning shaders to low or very low. It also turned off the dust trails from cars in RallyX.
