The last rally title to have 4 player split screen on PC is Colin McRae Rally 2005.
I still play it for that reason. There is no collision between cars and you get arrows indicating both the direction and the degree of the turn.

The 4 player split screen games coming out these days tend to be more arcady and designed to target both high and low end computers. e.g. Trackmania Turbo, Trackmania 2, Distance, Sonic Allstars Racing Transformed, F1 Race Stars, etc.
(Looks like GRIP will be having 4 player split screen as well.)

Dirt 3 had 2 player split screen and I'm still hoping for 2 player split screen on Dirt 4.

Would be interesting to see how far off splitscreen is for Dirt 4. If set on the lowest settings, would the game run with OK framerate on a gaming computer or would they have to create a seperate lower poly version of tracks and textures. Would they need to have less precise physics calculations, simplified car models, utilize multicore processors in a better way, etc.

PLEASE add at least 2 player split screen if you can!!!

1. That's an expense not many people are eager to pay for. Even on big screens the windows are too small and a projector doesn't always project a clear image. If you race with a wheel it's impossible. If you use controlers, you'll sit too close to the screen (not very healthy).

2. The co-driver tells you way more than what is shown by the icons. Bends tightens or opens up, cut or don't cut, rock inside, etc. You need that info to be fast or you'll crash again.

3. For arcade players it might be fun but for sim players it's their worst nightmare to play with split screen. This game is represented as a sim and simcade title (depending on the mode you choose) and not arcade. Split screen is no longer a feature that is worth the time and money developng for titles like this. That's just the way it is.

I agree that the simulation experience is better with 1 player per screen...

However if I have friends over, we find it way more enjoyable to race each other in real time rather than taking turns. Splitscreen enables us to do this in an easily accessible way. For us it's an intense social experience with competitive focus, sweat and adrenaline. This for us outweighs the cons of sharing a screen.

Since we've enjoyed the feature in Dirt 3 it's a feature we will miss in Dirt 4 if it's not there.

We want to have split screen as a feature.
Whether it's doable / profitable is up to the devteam and publishers to decide.
