Crosskarts: How awful.
These things handle like Speedy Gonzales on crack. I hope I never have to drive one of them ever again.

Yeah, the rest of the career mode so far has been so easy I've been regularly changing little things to make it more difficult, but the Crosskarts seem to spin around the moment I so much as think about turning the steering wheel.

Doesn't help that the AI can turn them on a dime either

Set braking bias to 70-75% front.

They are indeed tough to handle, but i love em!

Just to plow through the event, I wound up turning the difficulty way down, switching to 'gamer' controls with all assists maxed... and these things are still unruly as hell! Anything beyond an absolutely straight line requires the most delicate throttle control. They're so unforgiving compared to everything else in the game so far that I almost wonder if something is actually not right behind the scenes.

Before wussing out with assists I thought I was getting the feel for it in practice but then I'll push when playing the AI, and one mistake spells total disaster. Oh well, maybe doing ez-mode against the AI will be good practice when (acutally, major "if") I come back to these cars later.

Just watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GozDFyyJ9bg
You'll get some tips on setting up, and racing the Crosscarts.

They are absolute crap. Either I brake normally and get thrown around or I brake early to get hit by the competition. Either way, I lose. This event screwed up my relation with my first sponsor.

@joridiculous: For tips on setting up your Crosskart that video's utter garbage, he only put the brake bias all on the front when it's far better to leave it equal. He never touched anything else at all, getting the suspension & gearing right is the key to driving these quick without constantly spinning out.
The thng about cross karts are that like 90% of the mass is in the rear end of it. This means that if you turn at all the back end wants to get ahead of the front. You just have to learn to handle them so that doesnt happen.

Yeah I watched that video before I made my first response to this thread. And even prior to that, I had been adjusting the brake balance... and brake pressure... and roll bars... and spring rate... and taking it to practice.

Personally I just ran out of patience trying to get a feel for a driving style that's so different than everything else on offer. Call that an indictment of myself more than the game. All this talk does make me want to try and get better eventually. Perhaps if there are more events later in the career.

no need to adjust anything...just dont steer too much into the corner (like ghostface said the weight in in the back) and dont floor the brake or gas pedal to much - just needs some practice

Yeah. I guess that's why newer won a race and crashed all the time :steamfacepalm:

And here is the usual thing that happens in racing sims and games... The Nut is trying to fix the car before itself. Fix the Nut behind the wheel first and then you can work on the setup.
Literally a bit of throttle controll and the crosskart drives totally fine.

Guys you have pedal travel! Use it. It's not an ON/OFF switch. Modulate the pedal and you can even swing the little thing around like a 4 wheel driven Groupe B car. Just work on your driving style.
And yes it is tricky to drive but once you get the hang of it it is an absolute blast! Maybe try the Rallycross in it first to get a feel to the thing.
And like mentioned before, the weight is in the rear and the wheelbase is extremely short. Keep that in mind and don't mash the throttle and you should be fine!
