DiRT 4

What Dirt game should I get?
I haven't played any of the Dirt games since Dirt 1, which I really liked. I'm keen on getting a new one.

I've seen Dirt Rally on Steam. Why is that Dirt Rally and not Dirt 4? Is it like a spin off like Horizon is to those Forza games? I see Dirt 3 around too and that's dirt cheap. Is that one better than Rally? Should I get that?

Dirt Rally is a hardcore rally game whilst the Dirt series has a lot more in it and is easier to pick up. And dont buy any of the other games until this game comes out because it is said that this will combine Dirt Rally and the Dirt series to make it have a lot more content.

Depends, what you want for the game? are you a casual? are you a sim racing? are you expecting arcade? or a sim?
For sim i would go for the dirt rally or dirt 4 and arcade for the others.

Oh, I'm totally a casual. I don't know anythng about cars. Dirt 1 was pretty hardcore for me. I like the graphics in Dirt Rally over 3. Would Rally be super hard to pick up for a casual?

They said dirt 4 will have arcade and sim mode, still would pick this one since its newer. It will be a controller friendly for casuals and hardcore sim for ppl with wheels.

Ah nice. Yeah, I saw 4 got some really great reviews so my eye is on that. I might even pick up Rally first seeings its a lot cheaper.

Are these games basically singleplayer only? I mean, I see leaderboards, but its never actually racing against others right? I ain't so big on games with a huge MP focus.

It´s more single player focus. At least in dirt rally i didn´t use mp at all. You will have a great exp with sp only ;)
Cheers
Dirt Rally is awesome, but I'd get Dirt 4 first if I were you. As mentioned, Dirt 4 will have arcade and sim modes, but the sim mode in 4 won't be as hardcore as Rally. Then or course, get Dirt Rally second. The Summer Sale is coming up, which might be a great time to pick up Rally.

Dirt 3 seems good, but it's got some kind of dudebro reputation...I haven't played it yet though.

I would pick up dirt 4, obviously i havent played it yet, but it looks like it combines gamer handing (dirt 1,2,3 handling) and simulation handling (dirt rally). I really enjoyed dirt rally, though it took some getting use to and is more hardcore than dirt 1. I also enjoyed dirt 1 more than 2 and 3, so i would definately suggest getting dirt 4.

Dirt Rally is about as far from casual as you can get at the moment. It's much more hardcore than Dirt 1. Just so you're not too surprised...

Dirt rally is the only game worth playing to me. It´s a matter of taste, it´s the only one that the car feels alive and really act like a real car :D
For controller i agree that must be a pain in the ass but otherwise its a great great game.
For the op i believe your option it´s better.

i actually enjoy dirt rally with a controller, but yeah its still difficult and you have to keep playing even if you crash a few times.

Sounds good as I don't like MP that much and I do like hard games in general.

Um, what do most people play with? A Steering wheel or something? I'd be playing with controller.
