Suggestion: Port Visibility
Maybe it's a skill issue, but I have trouble finding Test Island. Perhaps for small ports (or all) a tower with a bright beacon could be added for very close navigation, such as taxiing?

I was thinking of recommending something similar: A radio tower/building on a peak near the towns, with power lines going down to the town, would both make sense and make it easier to visually locate these towns.

And by make sense, I mean make a LOT of sense. Radio communication between towns would probably need towers up on peaks, and since their shipping is done by air it would be important to make it easier to spot their locations from the air.
As was mentioned in the original suggestion, a beacon of some sort for TAXI ing. When you are running on the water, the docks are not very visible until you are very close. Even lighting on the end of the docks could be helpful?
I'd like it as an option, but personally, as a guy who can no longer fly because it just got way too expensive for a middle class American, squinting into the distance and wondering "How can I not see my destination!?" is one of the most authentic experiences in a sim. :)

That said, a good middle ground could be having easily identifiable geographic features or buildings that will assist pilots as they perform missions. A sheer chalk cliff face, a large round building, a warehouse with the word "BUTT" written in large, friendly letters, anything to help the pilot navigate.

Oh, yes, and a proper Airport Facility Directory (AFD) for each location would help, too. :)
you can just use your VOR to find general direction of it and move that way until you have visual. it's ok to overfly your target as that was the standard VOR approach anyway.
