It could also have something to do with the file already existing, or Windows just being weird.
Issues or bugs: In OneShot: After added the solar battery I tried to access the computer to find the code for the safe is located. An error came up;
__________________________________________________
OneShot
Script 'Puzzle_Safe' line 127: Errno::EACCES occured.
Permission denied @ rb_sysopen-C:Users\MyComp\Documents.oneshot.txt
[ OK ]
__________________________________________________
Once I pressed the okay button OneShot stopped working.
I had to close the program using TaskManager.
Tried:
-Updated Java script
-Turned on permissions in Avast for OneShot
(Added to Exceptions)
-Tried to run steamshim.exe as Administrator
-Allowed File to be shared
-Run program in compatibility mode Windows 8
-Run program in compatibility mode Windows 7
-Tried to run oneshot.exe as Administrator
With this one I got a note:

OneShot
Could not iniitialze Steamworks API
[ OK ]

Sadly nothing worked.
Update:
Also tried:
-Run program in compatibility mode Windows Vista
-Making a file called Documents.oneshot.txt
-Permission in my Avast to allow OneShot
-Uninstalled and reinstalled OneShot
Again, nothing worked.
Must note that the file Documents.oneshot.txt mentioned in the first window warning to come up before the game stopped working doesn't exist in the OneShot program file.
This problem has something to do with OneShot not having permissions to create a file, which can be caused be a number of reasons, ranging from the antivirus on your machine, to the file already existing.
I suppose I could try re-installing it on my other hard drive. Maybe that will work.
Tried installing it in my other drive. Same result.
"OneShot not having permission to create a file"
I thought about that and wondered if I set the wrong permissions selection and the program/App was still being blocked. As this is a unique game requiring the program/game to be able to make files on computer as the game progresses.
Turns out I had changed the wrong settings.
Uninstalled on my other drive and reinstalled it on my D:Drive.
For anyone with Avast and the same issue:
Avast>Menu>Settings>Blocked and Allowed Apps. >Allow app >Select app path.
D:>Steam>Steamapps>Common>OneShot>
(Select) oneshot.exe>Open>Add
(Select) steamshim.exe>Open>Add
Close Avast.
I do not know what it would be for other Security apps but it might be the same.
Pancakes,
It worked! thank you for your help. :)
The game was designed for windows 10, not vista. No idea where you got that from. For the thousands of playthroughs out there only a small handful ever encounter issues (most of which are difficult or not possible to fix) so that's why some of them just aren't fixed. Plus, the last patch was a year ago, so it's not like OneShot is abandonware.
Windows 10 is not mentioned. The max requirements were left blank.
