Can't start OneShot on Linux
I've played OneShot before on windows, but I'm having trouble starting the game PoP OS 20.04. Steam says it's starting, but then the popup goes away and nothing else happens. A previous discussion suggested running
ldd ~/.steam/steamapps/common/OneShot/oneshot | grep "not found"
but I didn't get the same error message so I couldn't use that thread. My error message was
ldd ~/.steam/steamapps/common/OneShot/oneshot | grep "not found"
Any help? I tried reinstalling, but nothing's changed.

Try using wine?

I had a similar problem, the game's kinda broken on Linux. It doesn't boot on some distros like Mint (Or at least it didn't boot for me) but deleting a few things in the games directory since they use a different version of glibc or something like the comments in this thread said worked https://steamcommunity.com/app/420530/discussions/1/1679190184069441478/
Though there was also a thing that made progressing while on Linux impossible but I can't really say what it was here due to heavy spoilers but idk if it was caused by this, but just be warned that some things just don't seem to work. Worst case scenario you might have to create a windows virtual machine or something like that and play through that.

I tried deleting the files, it didn't change anything. I did however notice that when I ran steamshim as suggested later in that thread that my error message was a bit different:
dlopen failed trying to load: /home/username/.steam/debian-installation/linux64/steamclient.so with error: /home/username/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/OneShot/librt.so.1: undefined symbol: __clock_nanosleep, version GLIBC_PRIVATE [S_API] SteamAPI_Init(): Sys_LoadModule failed to load: /home/username/.steam/debian-installation/linux64/steamclient.so [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed Failed to initialize Steamworks

Does that mean anything to anyone here?

That's why we have spoiler tags

I kinda forgot spoiler tags were a thing (It was midnight and I don't really use steam discussions often), but when I tried running the ______ program that was needed to progress after getting into the tower on the first run of the game it just wouldn't open. I tried running it in the terminal and kept getting errors related to the PyQt library or something. Everything I tried to fix it just wouldn't work and I couldn't find anything about the errors online after a while of trying to fix it. Maybe it was just because of the distro I was using (I was using Linux Mint 19.3 at the time) but I couldn't progress past that until I just gave up on trying to run it on Linux and just ran it in Windows since I was dual booting. Like I said before, if it just gets to the point where nothing works it's probably best to run it in a virtual machine, I think microsoft does still pretty much just give away isos of windows 10 that aren't activated on their webiste.

I don't know what it means but i had the same error message going from ubuntu 19.10 to 20.04. From other threads like this one and the one kiittrz linked, i think the game doesn't recognize the system's glibc? The solution in the thread I linked worked for the person that posted it, but I don't really know what they're talking about there, and I'm not sure if it would solve our problem either, as it's not the same error.

I'm also having issues running this on Linux (Fedora 32 with steam installed from rpmfusion, intel graphics card).

I got a little further by symlinking to the system librt. The opening screen and audio starts up, and then closes shortly afterwards.

But if I have steam running in the background, the game loads via "steamshim".

Then I tried to run on another computer which also was Fedora 32, but uses amdgpu (Radeon RX 560), and got this error output (which I think has been described elsewhere):

Setting breakpad minidump AppID = 420530 Steam_SetMinidumpSteamID: Caching Steam ID: 76561198108040644 [API loaded no] libGL error: MESA-LOADER: failed to open radeonsi (search paths /usr/lib64/dri) libGL error: failed to load driver: radeonsi libGL error: MESA-LOADER: failed to open swrast (search paths /usr/lib64/dri) libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast X Error of failed request: GLXBadContext Major opcode of failed request: 150 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 6 (X_GLXIsDirect) Serial number of failed request: 101 Current serial number in output stream: 100

It would be great to have this game running out of the box.
