I got the music box but how do i get the gears from it?

I have the music box and i the battery, but i cant figure out how to get the gears out of it, i looked it up and i cant find anything on it, am i stupid or is this a common problem? please help!

All you have to do is give Cedric the music box, and he'll get the gears from it.
