Questions about endings and Solstice!
This forum is kinda dead but I'm hoping some folks will be around for this!

I don't know how to do spoiler text so I'm going to disclaimer here:

~*~*~*SPOILERS AHEAD~*~*~*~*~*

For the first ending I picked "return the sun." (after 20 minutes of distress lol). Niko was "trapped" in the world, but the sun was returned, the world was partially "saved" except the squares, it might have eventually been destroyed but people got to see the sun again, etc etc you know the drill.

When I followed the Author's instructions, deleted my save, replayed and did the Solstice run (I went in blind thankfully) I had a question pop up in my head...

If one returns the sun in the first ending, the world continues to exist and Niko is trapped there (some believe he still went home, died, or otherwise but I'm going off what the game told me). So then it makes sense when I replay the game that everything still exists and Niko is still around, and he says in-game that he remembers the previous ending and returning the sun, and that he knew he wanted to save the world.

However if someone chooses "return home" first, then the world disappears immediately and Niko goes back home, right? Then how would one replay and do the Solstice path if they made that choice? There'd be no world left to return to and Niko's connection would be lost.

I know that if one returns home in the original (before Solstice update) the game would say something like "ERROR: SAVIOR NOT FOUND" if you tried to run the game again. Implying nothing is left and the game is basically gone.

Does the game even LET you do Solstice if you sent Niko home, or do you HAVE to replay and choose to return the sun for it to work? I looked online and couldn't find the answer :(

If someone has picked "return home" first, and then tried to do Solstice after, please tell me what happened! Did you have to replay, was the dialogue different, etc. I want to know but I don't want to "cheat" and wipe my data to do it myself lol.
