well the puzzle is always changing each time you fail so you have to use the process of elimination to pass the puzzle

This puzzle is actually common thing. You'll need to understand it to figure it out.

ever played mastermind?

there are 5 colous, when you press the lever the robot will tell you that a color is correct so try changing the others one by one and add a new colour when you found the correct one.
It's actually an easy and fun logic game

It would be a lot easier if it worked like the actual mastermind game, where i tells you if the color is correct AND if it's in the correct position, instead of, you know, only telling you 1 LIGHT IS CURRECT

There's nothing wrong with the puzzle. Also, bump.

Ultimate necrobump.
If anyone happens to be dense enough:

Check the lights first, see how many are correct.
Change the first, check again, did you get more or less correct lights?
If you got more correct lights, congratulations, the light you just changed was switched correctly. Move on to the next one, doing the same process.
If you got less, the one you switched was already correct. Switch it back.

I'll give a small tutorial on an easy way to approach this puzzle.

First start with
YYYYY
Now the game says "2 lights correct". So we know 2 are Yellow.
Next we'll try
YYYYB
The game says "2 lights correct". What does this tell us?
We only changed the last light, but the number of correct lights didn't change.
This means the last light is NOT Yellow or Blue. So next we can try.
YYYYR
The game says "3 lights correct." What does this tell us?
We only changed the last light, and now the number of correct lights has increased. So we know the last light is Red.

Now that we know the last light is Red, we only need to solve the first 4 lights.
So we try:
YYYBR
The game says "2 lights correct." What does this tell us?
Since we only changed the 4th light, and the number of correct lights decreased, we know it was correct before. So we know the 4th light is Yellow. Now we only need to solve the first 3 lights.

This is what the game means when it says "it can help to go one color at a time". If you only change 1 light at a time, you'll know when you've hit a correct one (or made it incorrect).
