I'm guessing a boy based on the name tho I think it can sometimes refer to girls. Like Yuri with Yuri on Ice and the main character in CoD Modern Warfare 3 but also for Yuri on Doki Doki Literature Club. But I think Niko is much more used as a male name so I'm still leaning on boy.

Niko is whatever you want them to be. I just refer to them with they/them pronouns myself, but their gender is up for interpretation much like Frisk and Chara.

Although I first thought of Niko as a masculine name, I feel its better to use them/they pronouns as an unambiguous gender so I can enjoy talking about the game with others without ruining their or my own experience and immersion in the game :)

Definitive official answer: They are whatever you want them to be.
My answer: I use neutral pronouns for them but in my mind they're leaning towards male.

Niko's gender can be male of female depending on what you think, since it's completely ambiguous. Personally I choose female due to most feminine actions throughout the game

I think that Niko is male. if someone thinks that niko is a Female then i Respect that. I aso found some little proof that niko is male. In refuge when you meet george she says to niko 'little fella'. fella is a word to describe the gender male. But im not saying that Niko must be a male! it's just a theory.

niko doesnt have a cannon gender. also, who says that niko has to be a boy or a girl? niko is a completely different species as us, they all might reproduce asexually, or have a plethora of genders. niko's gender doesnt matter, though if u rly wanna know, nightmargin jokingly said niko's gender is cat lmao
