Pop-up windows and creating files in rpg maker 2003?
So, I'm a huge fan of OneShot (haven't purchased the re-release but loved the original rpg maker 2003 version), and wondered how the game made popup windows and create files outside of the game. I've been analyzing the game files and all I can guess is that is has something to do with the common events that start with func_ but not sure. If anyone knows how to do this (maybe the developers could help?) I would really appreciate the help!

This probably isn't the best place to ask a question like this but wasn't sure of a more appropriate place to post this :/

can't speak for the devs again as I've said in another post, but that might go into detailed coding.

You'd need to learn what code RPG maker can use to look up making dialogue boxes, if I'm assuming correctly, you could open command prompt and probably force your computer to give you a dummy OK text box.

after doing more research in the game's README.txt, I found this clip of text which might help get an answer of how to do what the developers acheived in the original OneShot.

"Distributed with an unofficial, modified version of the RPG Maker 2003
runtime binary."

I don't know if this helps at all, I am very much so aware of unofficial patches to RPG Maker 2003 (things like DynRPG) so my guess is that they used some sort of patch. What I need to find out is what that patch is.

Depending on the Licensing rules of RPG maker, you might actually be able to get a release of that from the devs for free. It would be similar to Blender, but Blender is a total free license though. RPG makers might be able to charge for it, so I'm not certain.

Ok, I found their legal EULA here- https://www.rpgmakerweb.com/support/information/eula

It seems that by article 2 under supplimental provisions says modifications can "only be distributed under the User for the purpose of the user's game."

Which in that case, the devs cannot give you that modification. There may be a possibility they could help you with a lead to make something similar for your own game, but the actual modded code can't be transferred.

Yeah it was basically hacked in by Eliza into the RPGMaker 2003 executable. Not something that's super easy to do on your own.

Shoot. I really wanted to make something with the pop up messages and creating .txt files in RPGMaker 2003 , I guess I'll just have to use VX Ace or save up for MV for stuff like that. I wish 2003 had a script editor like VX Ace, but oh well.
