FAQ/Linux and Mac OS X status
In the future this thread will serve as a general FAQ, but for now I will address the issue of cross-platform builds. Linux and OS X were planned as supported platforms on release, however a deluge of bugs and health issues towards the end of development stalled work on necessary features for these games in order to meet the deadline. However, Linux support will be added soon (perhaps within a week at best) and OS X support at an indeterminate time afterwards. I'm really sorry for this, especially since Linux is my OS of choice, but it couldn't be helped.

Thanks for the update! I know this stuff is hard. :) I can wait awhile longer. Is there going to be another "launch" discount when the Linux/OS X versions come out? I'd rather wait to pay until the OS X version is out.
Well, at least it runs in Wine right now :) (edit: as well as a game can ran in it. Let's just say that I am really glad that the game is more forgiving to closing the window than the original. Well, it does work rather well, until I need to use a computer, and then I smack myself on the head that I did not save before doing so, and when computer tries to create a file game crashes with 75% frequency)
[offtopic] Out of curiosity: what is developer's distribution of choice? [/offtopic]

Will buy when Linux is supported!
Excellent! I was just reading about the game on Rock, Paper, Shotgun and came here hoping to find a Linux release, so I'm very glad to hear that it's on its way :D
Waiting on macOS support, appreciate the updates.
For what it's worth, it looks like the game works well on WINE up until the end; the "postgame" content doesn't work well. The second meta puzzle...doesn't *break* but it's harder than it's supposed to be. I've heard that mkxp works; I haven't used it.

Btw dev's github suggests they are going to use mkxp for linux port.

EDIT: Just for lulz, I had downloaded and compiled stuff from this repository, put it into steam folder AND IT WORKS!!!
no steam integration, as far as I can tell, and so far I only bootet up the game and got too excited to check if everything works, but at least we know the engine is working.
Although I am completely sure it is not worth the effort, if somebody has Arch-based disto and wants to try it out I can tell how.
EDIT: It woks fine in terms of everyday gameplay, it even created files, but sleeping in the bed is where it all stopped working.

I was on Linux and is EVERYWAY better than windows. I think a port to linux will be one of your best choice, as linux people play more Indie Games (Statistics). The game is beautiful! :spiffo:

P.S: Will there be other Steam Backgrounds? :D:
Will definitely buy it after Linux support comes out!
Thank you for taking the time to do this! Eager to play this adorable-looking game. (Sorry for not seeing this thread before reporting a bug, by the way. Not trying to rush ya, I know it's difficult.)

Just thought I should post this here as well, since...well, it's Steam, of course! While grabbing a copy of the engine from the engine's repository, I decided to play around with it and make a Mac build. And, I got it to work properly, for the most part! I'd love to see if it works properly for other users and hopefully get the code made as the official, even though I was told no help was needed, I'm still so sorry NightMargin and Mathew so if any of you guys wish to play around with it and test Mac gameplay, I'll be posting updates here: https://github.com/vinyldarkscratch/mkxp-oneshot/releases (Note: the post-game app hasn't been made for Mac just yet, still working on that!)
...I wish that I had known this when I downloaded it for Mac. >.<
After the win7 fix, the game is fully playable and complete-able on Wine, if anyone is interested (I sure hope nobody will soon, Linux port hype!)

If anyone else has gotten tired of waiting on a mac or linux build, manlybadasshero has a great playthrough on youtube you can watch instead of buying a windows game and fiddling with wine.
