FAQ/Linux and Mac OS X status
In the future this thread will serve as a general FAQ, but for now I will address the issue of cross-platform builds. Linux and OS X were planned as supported platforms on release, however a deluge of bugs and health issues towards the end of development stalled work on necessary features for these games in order to meet the deadline. However, Linux support will be added soon (perhaps within a week at best) and OS X support at an indeterminate time afterwards. I'm really sorry for this, especially since Linux is my OS of choice, but it couldn't be helped.

I hope that the developers still check this. I would like to know how their progress with the port is. Didn't they say a while back that they would work on the port again once all of the translated versions were ready?

Happy to say that the port is actually coming sooner than that! I just finished the macOS port and have sent it off to Degica to get published here on Steam. It should be a matter of days, should all go well. ;)

Did Degica run into a problem that slowed down the release of the port? It has been a month after all.

Very true.

Who knows? Maybe they’ll be posting an announcement about the port soon, wink wink. 😛

If that happens, I'm sure everyone would be very exited...

The macOS version is now live! Thanks everyone for your patience during the long development. We think it will be worth it for those who waited. Big thanks to Vinyl Darkscratch for all her hard work!

Downloaded the mac version, now it won't play. Every time I try to start it, I get the "unable to open data/xscripts.xdata" message and it closes

Strange that you’d be getting that issue, sorry to hear! I’ll double-check to make sure that all of the files are at their correct versions, in the meantime could you check if /Users/[yourusername]/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/OneShot/Data/xScripts.rxdata exists? (Pro tip: you can hit Cmd+Shift+G in Finder to navigate to a specified path!)

Wow. That was right after the previus conversation. Thanks.
Aww, I haven't been paying attention and thought it was the Linux release that was being teased. :( Congrats on the Mac release anyway. :)

fixed it! might have had something to do with the fact that I previously tried (unsucessfully) to get the game working with the guide on github. I just followed the troubleshooting guide from there and it worked fine!
so much for Linux first

It actually builds on Linux pretty easily right now (always has), it's more just all the other special things the game does that requires special porting.

The biggest irony is that I was never able to get it to compile on windows actually, but rather you would compile it on a linux VM to make a windows executable.

I'd be curious to know what are those special things (from a programmer point of view, of course).
