elevator help please!!!

I haven't played this game in a while and wanted to get back into it but I'm completely stuck on the elevator part. I dont really remember what I did last time I played but i'm pretty sure I tried to put the bottom back together and failed and now I have "You tried" in my inventory instead of the materials. I got the code but can't use it yet. I planted the kernel and gave it soil but couldn't find any water... did I mess up too much that there's no fixing it????

You messed the plant part up, yeah. No worries though, plant is a sidequest you can do later.
About the button part, try using duct tape in "you tried".

From elevator street, go to the top right path, it's the room with the robot in it.
Actually, i might be wrong and it's actually the lower right path, try both srry.
