To give some context: So as you play the game you get to know both from her and from notes that she was supposedly transferd from the city to the barren after a 'incident'. I never found out what happened.

I think the basic story is that when they were building her, they essentially tried to give her free will (which is technically impossible since a program can only follow a set group of instructions and parameters), and all the contradictions in her coding drove her insane. From the sound of it, VIOLENTLY insane.
