Is OneShot safe?
This is a kind of dumb question, but.. Is Oneshot SAFE?

I uninstalled it yesterday after panicking when it said my computer's log-in name, and finally began looking it up, and after seeing some stuff it DOES do, I felt kinda uneasy.
I dunno, I'm probably just being overly afraid or something, but.... Can Oneshot do something bad to your computer? Like... Virus or something like that.

I tried to look this up, but all I can ever get is something about an in-game safe, so I can't seem the find the answer.

I have played through the entire game, both endings and the Solstice route. My computer did not get any viruses. It may make you look for documents on your computer, or change the background of your desktop, but no viruses.

It's called, breaking the 4th wall. So no, no viruses.

Alright. (Also, yeah I know it's breaking the 4th wall.. It's just when a program starts messing with the computer I start getting really anxious and feel like I have to be 100% sure it's safe)

It is a really good game, in my opinion. The way the game breaks the fourth wall really makes you feel connected to the characters.
The worst thing it does is leave files on your PC, but they're harmless documents you can delete easily if you feel strongly about it.

I'm not sure you're getting the point I was trying to make here. The point was, I was asking because I was uncomftrable with a GAME having the capability to do things like add random files on my computer and wanted to make sure it was safe, since things like this can cause high anxiety for me.

Next time you decide to say something like that, please read over what you're replying to and try to better understand the actual question. :/

If someone wanted to mess with your computer they would not be so obvious about it. Any game you run and any game you give elevated privileges to can make changes to your computer. It is just very unlikely to run into any such game on Steam because of quality control, virus scanning, personal information, app signing, etc. Also profit, because most games here cost money there's no point in getting more via malicious means.

Sorry. But if this worries you..

Then why bother with games? This is actually a common thing for games like this to do.

I've played through this many times, it's fine. Don't worry about it. Steam would have removed it if it harmed your computer.

Alright.

And, I bother with games because, well, they're fun? And I mean... I get that they COULD do something and all, but they usually don't, and it's just... When it does stuff like what OneShot does (I looked into this game a lot), I usually worry, and if the game LOOKS like something I want to play, and I can't find the answer online I usually ask... ^^'

Most Steam games shouldn't really have viruses or malware in them.

Not a virus. But some scanning programs can do faulty scan due to its injection behavior on certain events

That's why this game is special. It like knows who are you. :al_grib:
No your computer is not as sick like an std laced womanizer. But you will feel emotional pain, life scaring...emotional.....pain.

Just, (sniff) just let it go, just let it go.
