On my first run of the remake a week ago I sent Niko home AGAIN.
I just like the kid. Okay? I also felt like letting the go die instantly instead of a slow death that would take Niko too.
But I eventually found the way to reset it (the old Oneshot was TRUELY oneshot.)
So I knew how the ending was when Niko went home. And I actually liked that ending more.
And I also found the "Bad ending". (Spoiler ahead, maybe?)
So, in the origianal, you could only exit the game, by letting Niko sleep (he could sleep in the same bed more times). If you closed the game, you "killed" Niko. Now, the Oneshot I played was the latest (higher version number, and didn't change since then). And if Niko died, you had to do everything from the beginning. And Niko woke up with a sudden sense of deja vu.
BUT...
Messing around, I found that ending where Niko died. I don't know if it was in the first version, and it was just modified later (because, well, it sucks if it really happens. And you didn't really know until you closed the game so it didn't matter much), or the devs already changed their mind before releasing.
Basicly, in the main screen there was Niko's scarf and Hat lying around, with a shattered light bulb in the title, and when you clicked Start, the game showed the picture of the room Niko woked up in, even more abandoned, and ruined than it was already. Also this is where I found in-game the tracks "MyBurdenIsDead" and "SomePlaceIDontKnow".
When I closed the window (couldn't do anything), a little pop-up window said:
,,You killed Niko." {<--- maybe it was meant when you closed the game in-game?}
And after relauch, the game reseted itself. I guess because that ending was not intended to happen in the first place.
i am way too attached to niko
After it became apparent that she couldn't have made it back, I restarted immediately and guided her home on the next 5 consecutive playthroughs. Now Niko is like a daughter to me
took me a good five minutes to decide
I thought it through carefully for about four minutes and I just had to do it.
