Surface fleet mod
Here is my current "surface fleet" mod. It is quite functional but I'm constantly tuning it and will likely update again. Meanwhile I hope it is a chance to get more ppl into modding this game!


List of changes:
- expanded what-if ship names, listed at 1st post here
- Turret arcs and elevation angles edited on all warships when necessary iaw navweaps.com
- ships' healthpoints floatpoints redone based on displacement. BB/BC is disp/1000, CV/CVE is disp/500, CA/CL is disp/400, DD is disp/135, SS is disp/120. Result value is close to game default but more variations and generally tougher ships. CV points is significantly higher, intention is to add some "tank" to the "glass cannon" and still able to launch planes after taking hits.
- All ships AAA strength x4. Result is AI heavy bombers about 3/4 chance of success, medium bombers 2/4 chance, attack planes 1/4 chance, vs 1 BB 1 CL 1 DD group. Rough about.
- Air strike coverage x 0.1. If a seazone had air strike coverage 1, it is changed to 0.1, in order to reduce abstract air strike events and reduce chance of heavy "one shot one kill" bombers.
- All ships have sonar and can detect and get targeting info on subs. BB main gun becomes no.1 sub killer.
- Sub torpedo salvo reduced, Type VII/IX max 2 torp salvo, Triton 3 torp salvo (AI can still fire 5 or 6), Type XXI 4 torp salvo. (Wanted to set XXI to 3 torp salvo as well but it locks up the AI action turn.)
- All ships purchasable from week 0 except Type XXI sub which is week 1 Dec 1941 when merchant tonnage bar raised to 700k.
- DDs torpedo loadout doubled as to have some spare after sub hunting.
- Experimental H-41 class BB changed from H-39, 68800ton, 16.5" guns, increased muzzle V, 6 planes, heavy flak. Way too strong, but meanwhile is fun to see working and a data points reference.

Credit to tj666 for the uncensored KM flag on warship 3D models. At least a part of the uncensoring is done!


To use the mod: backup the folder "AtlanticFleet_Data" in the game directory. Extract mod contents and overwrite.

soooo i know that the thread is really old, i downloaded the mod and extracted the content in atlantic fleet data, but when my game loads, the menu is all PURPLE with no text and i cannot click anytihing, pls HELP

This mod has some very very serious problems and mistakes:

1. Axis start from Sept 1939 with air power in all West Africa (Canary Is., Cape Verde), in the Bay of Biscay and Mediterranean Sea!!!
France surrendered on 22nd of June 1940 at which time Axis should gain the French ports overlooking the Atlantic (Bay of Biscay) and the French possessions in West Africa (Canary Is., Cape Verde).
Italy declared war to France and Great Britain on 10th of June 1940 at which time Axis should have air power in the Mediterranean Sea.

2. Axis start and continue throughout the war to have air power to Iceland and the surrounding sea areas (West Greenland Sea, Iceland, Irminger Sea, Western Approaches etc)!!! Axis air power in West and NorthWest Atlantic!!! Absurd!!!

3. Axis start and continue throughout the war to have air power to Northern Sea (Barents Sea, North Cape/Spitsbergen, East Greenland Sea, Faeroe Is., Norwegian Sea)!!!
Norway surrendered on 10th of June 1940 on which time Axis should gain access to the Norwegian ports.

3a. Furthermore Axis seems to have way more air power in the Faeroe Is. area where Scapa Flow is located and which is the main anchorage of the British Grand Fleet (more often air attacks there and more air attacks per round than the British). It is absurd the Axis to be able to do dominate the air above Scapa Flow!!!

3b. Axis have a constant aerial presence in Western Approaches while the Allies have from time to time!!! This is the area west of Ireland, the point where all the convoys were to reach before dispersing to the various British ports. It was one of the most well patrolled and defended areas from the Royal Air Force. It is absurd the Axis to have a strong presence there and the Allies a sporadic one!!!

4. Axis start and continue throughout the war to have air power to Central Atlantic (East Sargasso Sea, Azores Is.) when there were no Axis bases in the surrounding areas and Axis did not possess so long range anti-ship warfare planes to reach these areas from West Africa or the French Atlantic ports (Spain and Portugal remained neutral throughout the war).

will see that some of these areas are not supposed to have any Axis air cover and some others do have though they shouldn't have from the very beginning or they shouldn't have at all!!!

5. If you play as Axis and using a submarine torpedo (but not sink immediately) a ship (besides a DD) that has sonar but no depth charges, then this ship tries to attack the said submarine with depth charges and by being unable to do so (since it doesn't have any) the game gets in stuck and there is no other way to solve this issue than shutting down the game via Task Manager.

Yes very accurate critique. I think the mod was written as a kind of pro-Axis fantasy to be honest. But this is why people want to know how to "mod the mod", or just how to reproduce skwabie's techniques. He has provided some information, but not really enough to replicate or modify his work.
I guess it's just a question of hex editing one file. Could someone do a more historical and balanced version of skwabie's mod?

It's just a old mod and some of the problems you list are base game issues
even the devs admit they can't change much as it's a mobile port and not even their game afaik

Reworked BotA air strike coverage. General rule: seazone with port: 0.2, seazone adjacent to port, or seazone with land: 0.1; seazone adjacent to land: 0.05.

UK CL floatpoints was left out somehow and is now changed. Triton SS torpedo volley set to 4 fore and 1 aft.

you need to unpack it into the game directory
Regarding the mod (which installed easily, kudo's)

How do I access the extra torpedo ordnance numbers on my Destroyers (Brit) I am losing more torpedo aircraft and their pilots now and with the extra advantage of that supply it doesn't seem to match up with the amount available according to the details in the shipping load outs in custom battles.

I would also like to see Arethusa class cruisers in this game but they have overlooked that in the manifest of the games selection.:2017stickytube:
