how do i join a server?

i know the title is weird, i know how to join a server but when i try it says the server or my client is out of date and my game dosent say it needs an update, i just got it so pls help me.

A new patch showed up for me a couple of minutes ago. Restart Steam and hopefully it will show up for you too, as soon as it's patched it will be good to go.
