I would have to say, for me at least, the characters are what makes Nekopara so popular.
Look at the character designs - all the girls look different and are each a different breed of cat. That variety right there is a good starting point to build from. Add to that that the characters are believable and all higly likeable individuals that you could actually encounter in reality and you have a recipie for a great franchise.

And NekoWORKs is wasting no time building one

I say its 'cause its a soft visual novel; more on plot than H-scenes.

I agree. Contrary to what most people say, I TRULY buy such games for the plot and story. I find the story, plot, character development and dynamics, and overall writing of the Nekopara series to be very interesting and of high quality.

It can only be compared to the quality of the Wanko to Kurasou visual novel back in 2006. Even the Sakura series has interesting plot and character dynamics in the way they portray slice of life stories, everyday problems, character traits etc. I really felt the struggle in Sakura Beach 1.

The characters in Nekopara are well developed and lovable, making the reader grow attached to them and wanting to see what'll happen next.

Being an amateur writer of fiction myself, I sure can appreciate a good effort in writing when I see it. It doesn't have to be phenomenal in this kind of game. It just has to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Unless you're a totally insensitive bastard that is.

As for the Adult content, personally, I couldn't care less. Maybe it has to do with my age (30+) but I'm kind of desensitized to pr0n. I've seen pretty much everything, so, I don't really care much anymore about that aspect of such games. That's why it is the story that matters to me.

Being an advocate of Polygamy in real life (it's the way of Nature), I'd love to see Nekopara becoming even more serious and plot driven in the future. I'd love to see how the protagonist will manage his life and relations in the future. How he will deal with all sorts of life's challenges and problems. And ultimately, how he will manage the passing of the years, old age, and the fact that Catgirls do NOT live long...

To summarize: Why do I believe that Nekopara is so popular and successful? Because in a world full of violent and competitive games, Nekopara chooses to make us laugh, make us cry, make us care and connect with its characters, make us FEEL, all the while catering to our archetypal sensual fantasies and desires.

If only real life was such a...Paradise.

I'm sure every weaboo would go insane for a catgirl and would attempt to get one if it existed. I am kinda glad they don't exist. .-.

I can somewhat imagine what the world would be like with catgirls were such a thing.

It wouldn't be good, at all. Not that catgirls would be a bad thing to have, as I would actually desire to have one. But I can see a lot of problems that would popup in society and in other subjects.
This is how human civilization ends. People are more interested in bonking catgirls and catboys than other humans, and as the last human generation grows old with no heirs to carry on the legacy of humanity, only the catpeople remain. Thus, the cats shall inherit the Earth.

Good lord.

What have we done?

I rate your post 10/10 .:catpaw::nekoheart:
Well sum it up.
1) Nice Story
2) Superb Artwork
3) Great Chracter Design
4) Epic Voice acting and OST
and if you want to add it
5) H+ scenes

Basically it is just generally a really nice game

For me it's the artwork and story/characters that sell it. They are all so cute and the writing is quite funny, even though it's a fantasy setting it all still manages to feel quite grounded in reality which helps them all to feel even more believable. Really great series, unfortunately their support is the worst. >.<

Mostly, fan-service .

Good art, good design and top notch animation. It's not a cheap game if you take a medium of visual novel standarts. But that's it, this is not Clannad or Senjou no Maou, you just read it once, fa.. i mean enjoy the character interactions and move along.

It's an odd one to judge. Like others say, it's not bad in the plot department, and the characters have unique and well designed personalities (even if several are the usual stereotypes). In terms of the adult portions...I don't know. I just get the adult versions because I'm an advocate against any form of censorship, and the sex in this one is at least of a somewhat "wholesome" nature. Like Beyonder from above, I'm in my 30's, so I could care less about the sex bits (hell, I skipped past most of them since they drag on and on and on)...and it's not of the kind I think most would even consider "fap quality". It's certainly not the best VN out there (that goes to the FATE series IMO), but it's at least one that gets the positive fellings across and never goes overboard with perversity (one reason I hate Shigure...slutty little child).
