It's not possible for the moment to open a project made on an iPad in the steam version, because the application was almost rewritten from ground to make it portable on every platforms.
The architecture works differently on those versions, but the good news is that the v4.0 will unify versions for all platforms. This means that the iOS version (v2.9) will be migrated to v4.0 too, and projects will be converted into the new format, so sharing features will works naturally between iOS devices, PC, MacOS and Android versions.
I can't give you a release date for the v4.0 but we are in stabilization stages.
The version 4.0 is actually accessible on beta channel.
You can now do it, with the import/export feature, do an export by mail from your iPAD, then simply open the hd3d file on your computer.
